Air Ceylon, Lockheed L-749A Constellation, 1956-1958 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Air Ceylon was formed in 1947 by the government of the newly independent Republic of Ceylon (nowadays Sri Lanka). That same year three Lockheed L-749 Constellations were ordered for the connection Colombo-London. The order for the Connies lapsed and in 1949 Air Ceylon started a service operating Douglas DC-4s leased from Australian National Airways (ANA), who owned 49% of the shares (the other 51% were owned by the government of Ceylon). However, fierce competition from BOAC's DH-104 Comet 1 and TWA's L-749 Constellation forced Air Ceylon to close the London connection in 1953. In 1955 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines took over the shares from ANA. From 7 February 1956 till 1 November 1958 Air Ceylon leased KLM's L-749A Constellation PH-LDP for its new, weekly connection Colombo-(Bombay)-Karachi-Bahrain-Cairo-Rome-London-Amsterdam. For a limited period this route was extended from Colombo to Bangkok. PH-LDP was sprayed in a very pretty, exotic livery and received the name 'Mahadevi', its previous name having been 'Rotterdam'. In November 1958 PH-LDP was superseded by KLM's L-1049G Super Constellation PH-LKA/4R-ACH which also received a full Air Ceylon livery. On 3 November 1958 PH-LDP was written from use at Schiphol (Amsterdam) and has been scrapped sometime in 1962.

These are textures only. You will require Team 749's (Manfred Jahn & Co) Lockheed L-749 Constellation Basic Pack (lockheed749.zip), the folder Lockheed_L749_1 (twin stack exhausts). Also required Team 749's Lockheed L-749 Constellation Models Update (749_models_update.zip). Included mdl's custom made by Manfred Jahn. Repaints (based on Manfred Jahn's textures) by Maarten Brouwer.

Christler Flying Services Lockheed 749 Constellation Tanker Download

File Description:
FS9 textures only for the Lockheed 749 Constellation by Manfred Jahn and Volker Bohme. The textures depict Lockheed C-121A Constellation N9464, ex 48-609 c/n2601, when it was used by Christler Flying Services Inc. It along with four other C-121A Connies, was acquired by Christler Flying Services in May 1970 from the USAF at auction at Davis-Monthan. It was initially used for fire ant control in the U.S. forestry and in 1972 was converted to spraying for budworms in Canada. In 1979 N9464 later become C-GXKO after acquistion by Beaver Air Spray. In 1980 C-GXKO was transferred to Conifair and continued to be used for budworm spraying. After retirement from Conifair in 1984, it then went on to become the well known MATS Constellation owned by Vern Raeburn and then was acquired by a museum in Korea where it is now on permanent display. Repaints by Mark Rogers.

Lockheed L-749A Constellation TWA 1958 Download

File Description:
FS2004 Lockheed L-749A Constellation TWA 1958. In June 1939 TWA (Transcontinental & Western Air) required a four-engined airliner capable of flying transcontinental US services non stop west to east or with one stop travelling in the opposite direction against the prevailing wind. The specification was drawn up by TWA's major shareholder Howard Hughes and TWA-director Jack Frye. The intial result was the L-49 Constellation, but before the first aircraft was built WWII broke out and the Connie was drafted by the militaries as C-69. After the war the C-69 was renamed L-049 Constellation and delivered to a.o. TWA (27). The L-649 and L-749 Constellations were the first true civil versions. TWA used 12 L-749's and 28 L-749A's from March 1948 till 1967. This particular L-749A, N6001C 'Star of New Jersey', flew with TWA from 24 March 1950 till September 1966. It was scrapped in 1968. This repaint is a much improved version of the one issued in 2006. It has not been tested for the FSX version of Abacus' Constallation but probably will function there as well. These are textures only. You will require Francisco Sánchez-Castañer's great payware Lockheed L-749 Constellation, which can be obtained from Abacus' Platinum Collection (see http://www.abacuspub.com/default.html). Repaint (based on Francisco Sánchez-Castañer's textures) by Maarten Brouwer.

Lockheed Constellation for AI Traffic (Part 1) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Lockheed Constellation for AI Traffic (Part 1). The Lockheed Constellation was a medium-to-long range airliner, military transport, and later an electronic warfare platform, in production from 1943 to 1958, and in service long after that, many eventually finishing up their careers as freighters in remote parts of the world. I present an 8-LOD AI traffic model to bring this vintage transport aircraft to the flightsim world. Part 1 contains the electronic warfare and reconnasaince variants, with 15 models and 34 repaints. This is an FS9-native model, so it is compatible up through P3Dv3. Aircraft model, flight dynamics, and repaints by Michael Pearson.
