File Description:
This 380-piece puzzle comes from the early 1940's, not long after the famous B-25 raid on Tokyo in 1942. It is from a colourful patriotic illustration published at that time. No other files are necessary and the puzzle runs straight from its file. A ReadMe with the simple instructions is included.

1960 - Delivery flight of Viscount VH-RMK - Omaha to Melbourne, the long way round.

File Description:
This FS2004 (FS9) flight replicates the route taken by Ansett-ANA's Viscount VH-RMK (previously Continental Airlines' N241V) when it was delivered - by an Ansett crew - from Omaha, Nebraska to Essendon airport, Melbourne. The crew consisted of Cpt. C. Lister (in command), Cpt. D. Bull, First Officer J. Farrell, Navigator W. Kennedy and Flt. Engineer J. Howard. The flight commenced on the morning of September 17th. 1960 and took 12 days, the route being across the continental United States to Chicago, thence to Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, UAR, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Phillipines, Indonesia and finally Australia. You may wonder why they took the "long way round" rather than ferry the aircraft across the Pacific route: very simply, the Viscount did not have the range required to safely transit the distances between the only refuelling points available down through the Pacific Ocean. The P-40 Warhawk. This superb example - a P-40K - is owned by American Ron Fagen, who recovered the wrecked aircraft from the Kola Peninsula, Russia, in 1992. Puzzle - "B17 - Flying Fortress" poster, Microprose, 1992.

File Description:
Back in the late 1980's and through to the mid 1990's, Microprose published a bagful of enormously popular combat simulations for the PC and Amiga platforms. In 1992 they released "B17 Flying Fortress" to critical acclaim. This 414-piece puzzle depicts the advertising poster that was issued for retailers to display in their stores.
