Miss Conduct Boeing B-17G Download

File Description:
This is a repaint (textures only) for the Donationware B-17G Late from FighterTown Design Group. You can get it here for a great price!! www.donationware.net Thank you FDG for providing this great plane!! Special thanks go to Jarink, who is a repainter in IL-2/PF. Jarink was kind enough to send me his layered photoshop files of the Noseart that I used for these repaints. I also used his repaints as a guide for my repaints. This texture represents "Miss Conduct" from the 100th BG, the "Bloody Hundreth". The group received this appellation follwing the brutal losses it suffered during the fall of 1943. Some wags say that this is the reason the group used the color black for the group tail markings later in the war.

"Our Gal Sal" On March 6, 1944, over the town of Haseleunne, the Bloody Hundredth was virtually decimated. 'Our Gal Sal,' piloted by Bob Shoens, was the only B17 to return to Thorpe Abbotts in England. The plane eventually finished the war with over 100 missions.

Natural Metal finish was the standard from about March, 1944, but many planes were left in OD since stripping the paint was determined to be not worth the effort. The high-visibility red triangle group marking was adopted in August, 1944. "Daddy's Delight" - 108 missions.

This texture represents "Milk Wagon" from the 708th Bomb Squadron, 447th Bomb Group. Milk Wagon was the top mission-flying plane in the 3rd Air Division with 129 missions flown. Mr. August Altese, navigator on the James Young crew, tells of the origins of the aircraft's name: "Our first mission was June 21st 1944 to Berlin. When we returned to base we were asked what we thought of our first mission out of England as compared to the missions that we had flown out of Italy with the 15th AF. We replied it was a milk run, and named our ship the Milk Wagon and indicated each mission flown with a milk bottle."
