VP-YXA was one of two BAC1-11s ordered by Central African Airways but the airline split into Air Rhodesia (now Air Zimbabwe), Air Malawi and Zambia Airways before delivery took place. The aircraft was then delivered to Zambia Airways as 9J-RCH.
