File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang (with AccuSim), in the colors of P-51D-10-NA 44-14377 as flown by Captain Ray S. "X-ray eyes" Wetmore, of the 370th FS/ 359th FG. Born in Kerman, California, Ray Shuey Wetmore enlisted in the Army in November 1941 at age 18 and entered pilot training eight months later. Upon commissioning in March 1943 he joined the new 359th Fighter Group which was sent to England in October that year. Flying with the 370th Fighter Squadron, in February and March 1944 Wetmore scored his first 4.25 victories flying the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. Upon conversion to P-51 Mustangs the group ranged farther afield and Wetmore became a 20-year-old ace with a double victory on May 19, downing two Me-109s. At month's end his tally was 8.25. At year's end he was a captain with nearly 15 kills, flying several Mustangs named Daddy's Girl. He flew 44-14377 between 2 november 1944 and 10 march 1945, when it was damaged by Flak near Remagen. He scored nine victories with this aircraft, making it his most successful mount Upon return from leave in the U.S., then-Captain Wetmore scored steadily from November 1944 to January 1945. In that period he downed 12 more enemy fighters including 4.5 FW-190s on January 14. His final victory was a rocket-powered Me-163 on March 15. His final score was 21.25 destroyed and one damaged in aerial combat, highest score in the 359th Fighter Group and eighth best of all Americans in the European Theater. On VE-Day he was a 21-year-old major and the highest scoring ace still on active duty in the 8th AF. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the A2A paintkit.

North American P-51D 353rd FG (YJ-L) "Willit Run?" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang, in the colors of P-51D-10-NA 44-14771 YJ-L "Willit Run?" which flew with the 351st FS, 353rd FG from Raydon in the UK, with Maj Frederick LeFebre as its regular pilot. The P-51 is named “Willit Run?”, but the nose art on this plane is not talking about this particular aircraft or any P-51 for that matter. It’s an inside joke of WWII vintage. During WWII, as in every big war, private industry is called upon to produce war goods rather than civilian goods – “guns vs. butter”. Henry Ford took on a huge project to contract-build Consolidated B-24 Liberator bombers in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to be built on a farm which Henry Ford owned at Willow Run near Detroit. The facility was to be a prime example of Roosevelt’s “Arsenal of Democracy”, conceived and built on an unprecedented scale. Begun in April, 1941, it was the largest enclosed room in the world, with 3.5 million square feet. But Willow Run had a long and troubled construction and start-up time. So long and troubled a start-up, that after two years with little results the public became disillusioned with the project and derisively nicknamed the plant “Willit Run?”. Ford persevered however, and Willow Run finally hit its stride, eventually producing at the prodigious rate of 650 B-24 bombers per month by August, 1944. At war’s end, Willow Run had produced about half of the 18,000 B-24's which saw service in the war. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the A2A paintkit.

Spitfire BM124 Finucane Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This repaint is for the A2A Wings of Power 3 Spitfire MkIIb and represents the Spitfire Mk.Vb BM124 LO-W 602 Sqn (City of Glasgow. Queen Salote, an aircraft flown by Wing Commander Brendan Eamonn Fergus Finucane. Known as Paddy Finucane, he was an Irish Royal Air Force fighter pilot, who was a high scoring Second World War flying ace claiming 26 victories, plus six shared and was the RAF's youngest Wing Commander in its history. He was killed at the age of 21 on 15 July 1942, when he was leading the Hornchurch Wing in a fighter "Ramrod" operation targeting a German army camp at Etaples, France. Photographs show the plane was incorrectly named "Queen Of Salote" but were later altered by scratching out the word "Of" on the negatives in an effort to correct this.

Samuel "Sack"Saunders of the 388th FS/ 365th FG. Lt. Saunders came from Wellington, Kansas, and was one of everybody's favorite pilots, always smiling, very sharp and a leader when flying. He shared one victory over an Me 109 with Andy Smoak when the squadron was jumped by Germans on August 19, 1944, and had a solo victory over an FW190 during the turkey shoot on October 21. He chased the 190 over 50 miles before hitting it in the nose, causing the ammunition to explode and the pilot to bail out. Sorted default FS9 flight plans & GA flight plans sorted by ICAO/country Download

File Description:
The Master_GA_sorted_country contains: some 20,436 flight plans that have been adopted from Reggie Fields' sorted aircraft registration collections. The following is from his readme file (included folder), "FS2004 General Aviation AI traffic with more correct registration numbers for the originating country. This file is a modification of the FS2004 default GA traffic designed to minimize the number of small single engine aircraft landing at the worlds major commercial airports. This will prevent a lot of go-around orders to commercial jets based on the length of time it takes a C172 to clear a 10,000 ft runway. This file makes commercial AI traffic flow much better than the MS default while retaining the GA aircraft in the airspace." Like Reggie Fields' files, all are free to use and redistribute but can not be sold. AC#defaultfp_sorted_ICAO folder contains all individual default aircraft in seperate files and their FS9 default flight plans are sorted by ICAO. A second folder contains a file for each country with the mentioned GA flight plans sorted by ICAO. This should be of an aide to those of us who wish to put more correct AI aircraft into a region or country. Copy/paste should be easier, this way, when building on each countries' aviation/flights. All files are text (.txt) files (ASCII.) They have no @ and TTOOLS by Lee Swordy is recommended.

North American P-51D 1st SF (5E-E) "Easy Does It" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang (with AccuSim), in the colors of P-51D-5-NA 44-13557 5E-E "Easy Does It" as flown by Lt Richard 'Spider' Smith of the 1st Scouting Force, 8th AF. Lt. Smith was a B-17 plot with the 303rd BG and had completed his tour of 35 missions in october 1944 when he was made an offer he could not refuse. As all pilots, he had been dreaming of flying a fighter and was disappointed when he was assigned to the bombers. He now was asked to join the newly formed scouting force, which used experienced bomber pilots to scout ahead of the bomber force flying Mustangs. After 6 hours in a T-6 and 10 hours in a P-51, 'Spider' (so called because of his physique, tall, with long thin limbs) flew his first missio in a P-51 on 6 december 1944 in an old 364th FG P-51D-5, which he named 'Easy Does It' after it's callsign E. The name 'Betty' on the canopy rail referred to his future wife back in the US, but also to a nurse he was dating in the UK. On his 26th mission, on 1 april 1945, flying lead to Leipzig, his engine caught fire on the return flight, and he had to bail out over Belgium. He broke his arm when he hit the tail on bailing out, but otherwise landed safely. He was sent home to the US and came back just before his 21st birthday, having flown 60 missions. HIs story can be read here: http://www.rccr1957.com/spider.pdf. He did not crash with this aircraft though, this was damaged during a ground collision in the winter of 1944-45, was repaired and was now flying with the 487th FS/352nd FG as Maj. 'Wild Bill' Halton's 'Slender, Tender and Tall', where it finished the war. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the A2A paintkit.

Boeing B-17G 91st BG (OR-L) "Blue Dreams" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-10-DL 42-37761 OR-L "Blue Dreams" of the 323rd BS/ 91st BG, based in Bassingbourne, UK. "Blue Dreams" was assigned to Captain Ken McFarland and his crew, and was painted by Corporal Tony Starcer, with the december pin-up by Alberto varga. When the crew found out that their captain's wife was pregnant, they had Starcer paint a stork and baby below the pilots window (without McFarlane knowing), adding the name 'Mona Gail'after the birth of his daughter. The aircraft would go on to complete 29 missions with the group, before being written off due to an unfortunate oversight by another crew. Shortly after taking off for a flight to Berlin, on the 6th of March 1944, the pilot, Lt Walter Wilkinson, noticed fuel streaming from the starboard wing. He decided to land immediately, in the hope of quickly solving the problem and rejoining the mission. The nearest airfield was the 355th FG's base at Steeple Morden, close to Bassingbourne, and he decided to land there. He lined up with the runway and slowly descended the heavily laden bomber, going for a smooth as possible landing. What came was different, since the crew had forgotten to lower the landing gear, and "Blue Dreams" screeched of the runway and into the grass. The crew evacuated the wrecked aircraft as quickly as they could, but fortunately, the bombs in the bomb-bay did not explode. "Blue Dreams" would not fly again, and was salvaged the following day. The subsequent accident report revealed that the pilot had flown 8 exhaustive missions in the previous two weeks. This time nobody was hurt, but it would be a different story 10 months later, when another 91st B-17 forcelanded at Steeple Morden... Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the A2A paintkit.

Boeing B-17G 91st BG (LL-E) "Shoo shoo shoo baby" restored Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-35-BO 42-32076, the former "Shoo shoo shoo baby". In 1968, the ancestry of F-BGSH, an old B-17 languishing in derelict state on Creil Airfield in France, was discovered by the Australian aviation historian Steve Birdsall, who notified the USAF museum that this was a combat veteran that had flown operational missions, in contrast to most other surviving B-17's. Following negotiations, the B-17 was donated to the US by the French Government. Interestingly, its Swedish heritage attracted interest from Sweden as well, but nothing came of this. The aircraft was disassembled at Creil and trucked to Frankfurt and flown to the US in 1972, where it arrived, packed in 27 crates. No plans or funds for restoration were present at the time, but in 1977, Mike Leiston, a technician at Dover AFB contacted the museum about the possibility of restoring one of the museum's aircraft by volunteers at Dover AFB. With project approved, 42-32076 was transported to Dover, with the aim of restoring it to a stock wartime B-17G. Upon arrival, Paul McDuffee, who had flown her for 13 missions, was present, and the reunion was clearly an emotional one as he commented "I've just got to go over and kiss her", which he did. The restoration continued to 1988,and after some 60.000 ma hours, "Shoo shoo shoo baby"took to the skies again for the first time on 11 september. On 14 october 1988, she flew for the last time, to the USAF museum near Dayton, Ohio, where she can still be seen. The main difference with her wartime looks is the fact that she currently sports an olive drab camouflage paint, which was necessary due to all the metal work needed to bring her back to a stock B-17G condition. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.

Republic P-47D-22 365th FG (D5-O) "Sally Flat Foot III" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Wings of Power III P-47D Thunderbolt, representing P-47D-22-RE 42-26386 D5-O "Sally Flat Foot III", the assigned aircraft of Lt William Ward of the 386th FS/ 365th FG. The first 365th FG pilot to report for duty, Bill Ward also had the distinction of leading the group on its last combat mission, a patrol flight on 8 May 1945. He scored to kills over Me109's, one marked with the German cross below the cockpit, scored on 22 june 1944, and another later in 1944, but that never made it into the 365th history books, hence the question mark. All lt Ward's Thunderbolts were called Sally Flat Foot, a nickname for his wife Sally. The third one also had a picture of a bird on the nose he referred to as 'the worry bird'. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Martin Catney.
