| Alaska North Slope 4: Lonely Air Force Station (AK71) |

File Description:
The town of Barrow is in the far north of Alaska, and these are coastal villages or radar installations to the west, south, and now east of Barrow. There will be further additions. Lonely Air Force Station AK71 is 80 miles east of Barrow and on the coast. It was, and at first sight appears still to be, a DEW station until you are close enough to see that the gravel apron is deteriorating. There is a gravel runway around 5,000 feet long, a large hangar, the DEW buildings, radar under the domes, the remains of huge line-of-sight communications reflectors, and oil tanks. Some DEW sites are not worth a visit; others are surprisingly intact and this is one of those. The AI takes place three days a week and is a C130, in which case the DEW site is still functioning or under mothball maintenance, a chartered Reeve Aleutian in which case the site is closed and they are documenting wildlife, and a Cessna with a group of the curious.

Included in this file 13 real liveries,Iran Air Force, Malaysia Air Force, Third World Hope Inc, Pen Turbo Aviation Inc (2 liveries) , Greatland Air Cargo, N94NC, C9-ATE, Wardair Canada, ERIM, Trigana Air, Union Flights & USAF. The "Boo", as it was known, was an excellent cargo lifter, in spite of its ungainly appearance. With outstanding short/rough field capability, it could lift useful loads into almost any airstrip. Caribou production ended in 1973 after 307 had been built, most of which were for military customers. File Description:
The aircraft represented is 6-13 as it appeared in the 1970s with 6°Stormo stationed at Brescia-Ghedi (LIPL) in northern Italy. These textures are intended for use with the Alpha Simulations F-104 Starfighter payware aircraft package. If you don't have the ALPHA F-104 Starfighter set and you like historical aircraft you really should get a copy. It is very well researched, includes four accurate flight models based on external loads, has an awesome panel with tons of features and is truly FSX compatible. This packet includes my repaints "Let L-410UVP-E Airest ES-LLA, ES-LLB, ES-LLC", AI model author Viktor Schacht. Original model find on www.avsim.com. I use painkit by Eduardo Mazuera, thanks for it. Introducing Airest. AS AIREST received its AIR OPERATOR SERTIFICATE in November, 2001. Regular cargo flights on the Tallinn-Helsinki-Tallinn route were performed the first in January, 2002. Up to the present, AIREST has constantly expanded its regular cargo and charter passenger flights, most of which take place abroad. AIREST is operating (at December 2006) the 3pcs aircraft type L-410 UVPE, manufactured in Czech Republic and 1pc Antonov 26B leased for the Tallinn - Helsinki route, registration EW-245TG.

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for version 3.14 of the Douglas C-47 by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of DC-3C N777YA, which is flying with Bush Air Cargo from Anchorage, Alaska. Originally built in 1944 (c/n 25634), it first flew with the USAAF (43-48373), before serving with the US Navy (17259). In 1946 it was registered with Wien Alaska Airlines as NC21769 and then saw service with Aero Retardent Inc. as N777DG, Pacific Galactic as N777PG and finally with Woods Air Service as N777YA before being sold to its present owner. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom for Manfred Jahn's C-47 version 3.14, based on the paintkit by Gman5250.
