South of Izmir on the south Aegean, Selcuk has been transformed since the 1990s into a major tourist destination, mainly as a base to visit the famous ruins of Ephesus a few kilometres away. The ancient classical city is one of the best preserved in the eastern Mediterranean and is a great example of Roman architecture. This is an NDB approach for those interested in the ability to get into Auke Lake, Alaska, which, is not currently served by an instrument approach (IAP). This is a small lake, located nearby Juneau International airport, which has a number of private floatplanes based at it.
The area is a very mountainous region and with an NDB station nearby, it would be a shame not to be able to get in when the weather goes down.
