US Airways Group, Inc. is the parent corporation for US Airways mainline jet and express divisions as well as several related companies, all in the air transportation industry. From the company's beginnings in 1939 as All-American Aviation, Inc., the present-day US Airways is the inheritor of a number of famous names in U.S. aviation (see Company History). US Airways has been an aviation innovator, particularly in the building of alliances through code-sharing.
US Airways Express the brand name for US Airways regional aircraft operations, is made up of nine regional air carriers that fly to smaller communities throughout the US Airways system. Three of those carriers carry the names of former airlines that now are part of the US Airways mainline system and are wholly owned subsidiaries of US Airways Group Inc. With more than 2,200 daily flights, US Airways Express is in itself one of the world's largest airline systems. The three wholly owned express subsidiaries are:
Allegheny Airlines, Inc. with headquarters in Middletown, Pa.
Piedmont Airlines, Inc. with headquarters in Salisbury, Md.
PSA Airlines, Inc. with headquarters in Dayton, Ohio.

| American Eagle "Piedmont Retro" DeHavilland Dash 8-100 |

Similar to its mainline counterparts, Piedmont unveiled a retro livery on N837EX to highlight the company's rich history. The aircraft features the name of the company's retiring CEO, Steve Farrow, who served from 2005 to 2016, and nephew of the airline's founder, Richard Henson. Today's Piedmont traces its origins back to Henson Aviation, a commuter airline based in Hagerstown, MD which began commercial operations in 1962. The company was acquired by Piedmont (the mainline predecessor) in 1983 and the first Dash 8's were delivered. Henson continued to grow as a regional airline, and was renamed Piedmont after USAir purchased mainline Piedmont in 1989 to preserve the airline's identity. The airline continued to grow under US Airways Express and still serves as new American Airlines. Painted on the great Dreamwings model. Enjoy!
