F-86 Sabre FAP 201 Squadron |
![]() |
File Description:
FS9 repaint for the SectionF8 F-86 Sabre. The First F-86F's that arrived to Portugal were in bare metal finish, with the vertical tail finn, the wing tips and the engine entrance painted with dark blue. The aircraft was in bare metal because it was easier to reach the sound speed. This paint scheme was used by the 201th Squadron, Operacional group 51 at Monte Real nr.5 Air Base. Repaint by Lobo da Silva, based on the repaint kit by Section F8.

F-86F Sabre "MiG Mad Marine" |
![]() |
File Description:
US Air Force F-86F-30 Sabre "MiG Mad Marine". A repaint with extra supplementary texture detailing for the FS2004 SECTIONF8 North-American F-86EF Saber (SF86EF.ZIP). This is a representation of the airplane flown by Maj. John H. Glenn, Jr., USMC while TDY as an exchange pilot with the USAF during the Korean War. The art work on the side of the fuselage was unusual since it referred not only to Maj. Glenn, but also to his family by the addition of the label, "Lyn - Annie - Dave I" forward of the primary art. Like most combat aircraft, the art appeared only on the left side. Textures by Cliff Presley.

Sabre Mk.6, Bundesluftwaffe 'JA-111' bare metal, corrected textures |
![]() |
File Description:
Repaint of the absolutely awesome F-86F Sabre by SECTIONF8 (available at AVSIM), depicting a Canadair Sabre Mk.6 of 1./JG 71 'Richthofen'. This particular plane was flown by its Geschwaderkommodore Erich Hartmann, WWII fighter ace.
These are overdone textures (complete set!) of my previous "sabre_ja111.zip" texture set.
(NOT required to use these textures!)
After considering more sources, I decided to rework my textures, uploaded on November 16th.
In respect of the overwhelming realism of the aircraft rendition, my first attempt of depicting the "JA-111" did not seem adequate anymore to me.
What's changed? "Iron Cross" insignia are changed into the earlier, 'leaner' version, "Richthofen" squadron crest of JG 71 is now beared on both sides, "JA-111" marking without white fringe, corrected rescue and caution markings, added aircraft numbering on the tailfin (not readable, but believe me: it's there!).

Sabre Mk.6, target tug 'D-9538' |
![]() |
File Description:
Repaint of the absolutely awesome F-86F Sabre by SECTIONF8 (available at AVSIM), depicting a Canadair Sabre Mk.6 target tug aircraft, operated by CONDOR.
In October 1966, the Lufthansa-affiliated CONDOR Flugdienst was commissioned to operate target-tugs for anti-aircraft training purposes. Six drawn-out-of-service Luftwaffe Sabre Mk. 6 were provided for the civil operator. They were stationed at Westerland/Sylt and beared a civil registration number. The D-9538 (Canadair c/n 1600) started service at Waffenschule 10 (fighter school), marked as 'BB-370' and 'BB-170'. After 1974, it was sold to FLIGHT SYSTEMS Inc, registered as N-1039C and N82FS. Taking part in the airshow business, it was painted in the colors of the "SKYBLAZERS" aerobatic team. It crashed at Lumberton, New Jersey on June 19th, 1999, killing its pilot and owner.
