Anticosti Island in Quebec Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Anticosti Island is in the Gulf of St Lawrence, around 25 miles off the Quebec mainland coast. It is some 40 miles wide and 130 miles long on an east west axis. There are few urban areas and only one that can be described as a small town, namely Port Menier at the western end of the southern coast, with a population of under 1,000. There is a ferry service to the harbour. The airport, Port Menier CYPN, is around 3 miles northeast of the town, with an asphalt runway aligned 11-28, 4,875 feet long and 150 feet wide with PAPI at each end. In 2010 (the approximate date of this scenery) a gravel runway was still visible at the eastern end of the field. This was no longer in use by 2010, except perhaps by small planes on skis in the winter. The island, with its small population, small urban area, and no industry other than logging, has as a result a mainly undisturbed wildlife population. This has made deer hunting and fishing the main tourist activities, with one company (called Safari) having an exclusive licence to exploit large areas of mountains and rivers. Planeloads of hunters and fishermen are flown in on chartered Nolinor Aviation planes, landing at CYPN. There are a further two airfields in the eastern end of the island, and in 2010 Rivere-Aux-Saumons CTH7 had a 5,500 feet gravel runway, linked by road to a lodge area at the mouth of the river. This is the only lodge area that I have been able to locate, but there are others. To the south Riviere Bell CRB5 had at that time a gravel runway that was 3,000 feet long. This has been lengthened since then and both runways were recently (2021) asphalted. If you find an error email me please, and note that my email address has been changed to rogwens at Gmail dot com. The reason I am posting this now is that I discovered that my original post ended up in MSFS Original Aircraft instead of in FS2004 Scenery. Ooops!

Gusev Crater Scenery Download

File Description:
Gusev Crater is an impact crater on Mars that looks as though a lake may have once filled it in the distant past. Gusev Crater is about 145 km (90 miles) wide. It is located at 14.6° South latitude and 175.3° East longitude, along the boundary between Mars' southern highlands and its lowland northern plains. The crater is about 3,000 km (1,900 miles) southeast of the volcano Elysium Mons. Scientists believe the Gusev Crater was formed by the impact of an asteroid three to four billion years ago. A valley named Ma'adim Vallis, which is connected to the south side of the crater, looks like it may have been a river channel that poured water into the crater in the past, forming a large lake. If the crater was indeed a lake, scientists expect it to contain layers of sediments as much as 915 meters (3,000 feet) thick that flowed in with the water. There may be other clues to a watery past within the crater, such as deposits of minerals, such as halite and gypsum, that form when water evaporates. Wet environments are the best places to look for life, which is why scientists are so eager to track down places on Mars that were once wet. On the 3rd of January 2004, MER-A Spirit, one of the two Mars Exploration Rovers (MER) had landed within an 81 km by 12 km (50 by 7 miles) oval near the center of Gusev Crater. Once settled into its new "home", Spirit will begin its mission of exploring for geologic evidence of the presence of water in Gusev Crater's past.

Mount Everest Expedition Download

File Description:
Two flightplans for an expedition to Mount Everest (8852 m). The first flightplan takes you from Lukla (VNLK) airfield at 10000 ft to Mount Everest Climb North: Base Camp. A distance of about 40 km. The recommended inbuilt aircraft for this trip is the "Maule Orion on skis". Be aware that you must climb to about 15000 ft before entering the GPS-path. Also, you should try to land across the slope. Otherwise it could be difficult to stop the aircraft from skiing down the inclined ground! The second flightplan takes you from Base Camp to Yak Camp* (at about 19000 ft MSL) sitting at a bend of the East Rongbuk Glacier. This is the first camp on the North Route. You should use a helicopter able to climb to about 20000 ft for this route. For example, the inbuilt Bell 206B JetRanger. Though, it will indeed be a challenge with this aircraft! *= It is called the Yak Camp because it is the point at which the yak herders overnight their yaks on the route up to Advance Base Camp (ABC) at 21300 ft.

Silloth Aerodrome plus Great Orton Download

File Description:
RAF Station Silloth is a former Royal Air Force station located 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east of Silloth, Cumbria, England and 6.7 miles (10.8 km) south-west of Kirkbride, Cumbria. The station was used by RAF Coastal Command during WW2.
I designed this scenery primarily for my own pleasure using Airport Design Editor and FSX SDK. I use FSX Acceleration and Horizon VFR photo scenery but it should work with standard FSX SP2.
This scenery depicts the airfield as closely as i can get it with the available information. I have modelled all of the Airfield buildings as closely as I could with the information available to me and this was done using Sketchup, the models were then converted for use in FSX using Model converter X. It is not 100% accurate and no claim is being made by the author that it is. I have depicted the buildings in wartime camo. All the buildings can be used as as you wish. My only request is that if you should design better textures for them that you let me have a copy, my textures are pretty basic. Some buildings have night lighting, lights and smoke effects, these should be in your FSX effects files already. I have not yet completed the Domestic Site but i may do this in the future...(I've hit the buffers for now though!!)

Included in this scenery pack is the Satellite Airfield RAF Great Orton. Built in 1943 to accommodate the larger bombers now being used by the RAF. This airfield is very sparse as i am unable to get much info about it.

Runways, Taxiways, Watch Office and Ground Signals are all that is included in this scenery pack, along with Sloped flattens, crosswind runways and AGN files. I have included this as a destination for the Bristol Beaufort AI aircraft that i have included with the scenery. The Bristol Beaufort AI is a freeware model from Alphasim and is used with their permission. I have altered the model textures and aircraft file and it works well enough as AI. I have used other scenery libraries within this scenery (mainly to depict the village of Silloth) and these will need to be downloaded from the appropriate sources and activated within FSX.

Boeing 787-8XLR Qantas Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Qantas is requesting proposals (Dec 2018) for design of an aircraft model or variation that is capable of non-stop flights over 10,000 nm for YSSY to EGLL and/or YPPH to KDFW and return service routes. This model is the best choice for Boeing based on real world data. The Boeing 787-8XLR "Dreamcruiser" will have a maximum range of 13,600 nm at FL450E (Mach .83) which will give her more than the desired capabilities, and will be the very efficient. This model (B788XLR) is based on the current 787-8 using weight modifications to increase the range without adding additional fuel tanks, and designed for luxury/comfort with only 161 paid passengers on board. Everything in this model is realistic to the best of my abilities. If Boeing creates this model, it will likely be very similar to this. The name is my own invention, as are all of the weight characteristics. Based on all of my extensive testing, there is no other aircraft capable of these requirements, to date. The 787-800 is certainly the right choice for Qantas if Boeing decides they will modify the original model to fit these requirements. In reality, there is no such aircraft as a 787-8XLR Dreamcruiser. Not yet, anyway. My data shows the aircraft is capable of long-range non-stop flights over 13,000 nm east or west at Mach .82 and above FL435. However, this can only be done by lowering the empty weight and using the full fuel capabilities designed within the original model. This simple modification cuts the total souls on board down to 176, with 161 paid passengers, 11 flight attendants, and 4 pilots in two shifts. Full fuel can now be used in all long-range flights which is actually not common for most 787-800s in service today (Fuel Managed). Ramp and MTOW remain the same, but because she flies higher than normal, and has less weight, she can cruise much further than any other 787. In reality, this is what the 787 was originally designed to do.
