Los Angeles Terminal Area Chart

File Description:
The rendition of Los Angeles´ KLAX airport is one of the most detailed in FS2002 and a great starting point to explore the West Coast. The library hosts a few awesome landclass and mesh files for this area that offer an "as real as it gets" VFR experience if used with this chart. The 1:250.000 scaled chart is scanned in high resolution (8400*4700 pixel). It covers a much smaller area, but offers considerably more detail than the LA sectional. You may use this chart "as is" without any other software, but it will develop its full potential if used as moving map with SimSystem´s FSFlightMax or FSGarmin. It wouldn´t have been possible to offer this chart without Richard Harvey and his love to flightsimming, so please consider this file to be "donationware" and make a however small contribution to the Richard Harvey Endowed Scholarship.

File Description:
The airport named Taylor Field (on 1970's sectional charts) is a small 1800' strip not shown in the stock FSX list of airports. There is no ICAO code or other designator I could find with extensive research. I used my own code of NY3C. This is a part reality part historic scenery as it represents the modern day airport, the Glenn Curtiss Museum, and adjacent to the Airport a facsimile of the original horse racetrack that was used by Glenn Curtiss to fly his June Bug on July 4th 1908. It is a close As I can determine to the original spot using archival photos and conversations with the Director of the Curtiss Museum, Traff Doherty. Extensive use of new land class is also employed to give a better representation of the geographic area. This will work with FSX stock scenery, but is designed with UTX (Flight One Software) in mind. It will work with ORBX Global and Global Vector as well. With these latter two there may be some missing roads but it won't affect the scenery.

Fairchild C-82A Packet (Project Phoenix)

File Description:
First and foremost, this aircraft package is dedicated to the memory of the late Paul Mantz, a veteran stunt pilot who gave his life in the making of the 1965, 20th Century Fox movie, “Flight of the Phoenix” starring James Stewart and a strong cast of other well known actors. This package contains not only the C-82 Packet, but, as a special feature, “The Phoenix” as well. For those of you who have not seen this classic, you are missing a real jewel. It can still be obtained in VHS or DVD at www.amazon.com I highly recommend it. The C-82 comes in three paint schemes, U.S.A.F., Bush Flying Unlimited, and of course, Arabco Oil. The Phoenix is painted as it was in the movie. Both aircraft have excellent panels built by K. Mitchell and the C-82 possesses a very nice virtual cockpit on par with that found in the C-119; previously released. These are DXT-3 textures with no mip-maps to preserve image clarity. I chose this format in the attempt to maintain a minimal upload/download package size. I will be following up with individual texture replacement packages in 32-bit for those who wish them. I hope you enjoy this flightsim model as much as I did putting this package together. I could not have done so without the excellent help and work of Daisuke Yamamoto, Herb Morse, K. Mitchell, Mike Hambly, and Brent Hricziscse. Enjoy! Heather

FSMMoving Map v1.1.0

File Description:
FSMMovingMap 1.1.0 - Compatible with both FS2002 and FS2004

FSM Moving Map is a Freeware software with some neat features. With proper road maps, you will be able to find your road (or lack of) in FS environment, or fly at ease using Sectional or terminal charts. The concept is very simple: you, the user define all the maps... once you are flying, FSMMM will try to locate the best map available, and display it on screen. This can be very useful during VFR Flights.

One of our beta user has described it as "flying like the rich people with fancy GPS units sporting colour map displays" - 'nuff said.

On local PC, this map can be used with FS2004 Kneeboard, or with "MovingMap Launcher". This software can also integrate with FlightSim Manager (v2.8 and above), and work over the network using FSM Lanview (so you can fly on one machine while the map runs on a different PC).
