Stanford Torus Space Colony v1.0 |
![]() |
File Description:
What will future space colonization realistically look like? What is it like to approach a rotating station almost 2km in diameter?
The Stanford Torus is based on a design created during a 10 week program in 1975 held at NASA’s Ames Research Center and Stanford University. The project participants considered how to create a practicable permanent colony in space using existing technology at minimum cost.
The habitat is over 1800m in diameter and spins at 1 rpm to provide 1g of pseudo-gravity.
Package includes a scenario to fly from the ISS up to a GEO rendez-vous with Stanford, as well as documentation on the station itself. I am looking for a texture artist to do the station justice, since my textures are pretty sad. Please contact me at [email protected] if you are interested.
INSTALLATION: You need Vinka's spacecraft.dll to use this add-on. A link is provided in the documentation.
1. Unzip files into your Orbiter directory, preserving the directory structure in the zipfile.
2. Load up the Stanford scenario in the Stanford directory in the Orbiter start window.
3. Enjoy the trip!

File Description:
The International Space Station placed directly over
KPAM (Tyndall AFB) at 900k ft (175 miles) -
this scenery is intended as companion scenery to
my Shuttle Atlantis. capable of reaching 600k ft on it's own,
but you'll need to use slew to make it the rest of the way up
- and it's a short de-orbit to KSC when your ready to come down

TX Winged Space Launcher |
![]() |
File Description:
TX (Tug eXperimental) - the experimental hypersonic airspace vehicle. TX is the universal orbital launcher which can lift into a low circular orbit any payloads in weight up to 40-50 tons. TX also can serve as the first stage for heavier payloads having own engines. Payload configuration is provided through a scenario file.
Features: some animation of the visual model, combined hydrogen engines, accurate model of an atmospheric phase of flight, no instrumental panel (may be released in next version). Detailed documentation.
This package also includes "SRC Space Port" - space port for basing TX vehicle (SRC - "Space Research Center"). Installation is very easy and fully described in readme file.

Amundsen-Scott Station |
![]() |
File Description:
The Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station is the American scientific research station on the high plateau of Antarctica. This station is located at the southernmost place on the Earth, the Geographic South Pole, at an elevation of 2,835 meters (9301 feet) above sea level.
Since the Amundsen-Scott Station is located at the South Pole, it is at the only place on the land surface of the Earth where the sun is continuously up for six months and then continuously down for six months. (The only other such place is at the North Pole, on the sea ice in the middle of the Arctic Ocean.) Thus, during each year, this station experiences one extremely long "day" and one extremely long "night". During the six-month "day", the angle of elevation of the Sun above the horizon varies continuously. The sun rises on the September equinox, reaches its maximum angle above the horizon on the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, around 20 December, and sets on the March equinox.
During the six-month "night", it gets extremely cold at the South Pole, with air temperatures sometimes dropping below -73°C (-100°F). This is also the time of the year when blizzards, sometimes with gale-force winds, strike the Amundsen-Scott Station. The continuous period of darkness and dry atmosphere make the station an excellent place from which to make astronomical observations.
This file has the apron and characteristics of the airport the coordenates are placed as far south as FS allow it.
