Boeing B-17G "Sentimental Journey" N9323Z

File Description:
This is a repaint only for the FSX Wings of Power II Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, in the markings of the CAF Arizona Wing's B-17G "Sentimental Journey," N9323Z. "Sentimental Journey" rolled off the Douglas assembly line in late 1944, and was accepted by the Army Air Corp on March 13, 1945. Being delivered too late to serve in the European theater, the aircraft was assigned to the Pacific theater for the duration of the war. The aircraft served in the USAF until 1959 when it was put into storage. Within a few months the aircraft was acquired by the Aero Union Corporation of Chico, California and flew thousands of sorties against forest fires as a converted tanker. In 1978 the aircraft was donated to the newly founded Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, and after a local contest the aircraft was named "Sentimental Journey." The decision was made to use the most famous pinup picture of WWII for the nose art, which of course was that of Betty Grable's most tantalizing. Over the years the aircraft has been brought back to its WWII configuration, complete with all turrets, crew positions, bombay, and markings of the 457th Bomb Group. The aircraft makes on average each year an amazing 60 airshow stops nation wide.

Piper PA-31T Cheyenne Repaint Package Release 1.1

File Description:
Here is the entire collection of repaints for the Digital Aviation PA-31T Cheyenne Package that I have made. One notable change is the switch to DXT3 format from 32 bit. This was done to decrease texture loading time. I have not been able to detect ANY difference in image quality as a result of the change. There are six repaints included in this package: N801HL, a Cheyenne I N134LV, a Cheyenne IA N365KB. a Cheyenne IA N151GS, a Cheyenne II N366XY, a Cheyenne IIXL N965RS, a Cheyenne IIXL Each texture set is placed in its own folder, and includes pictures along with instructions. The previously issued repaints have been modified to correct several small errors that have appeared: The errors principally involved the transition of engine textures between the top and sides and/or the rear fuselage. If this is the first download of these files for you, you need the entire contents of this package. For those who have downloaded the previous release, dated 11/22/07, here is what is new in this package: Cheyenne IA N134LV: Fuselage_1_T.bmp and Fuselage_3_T.bmp. Cheyenne IA N635KB: Fuselage_4_T.bmp. Simply replace the files you now have with these, overwriting the old files.

RAF Church Fenton

File Description:
RAF Church Fenton (ICAO: EGXG) was an Royal Air Force station in North Yorkshire, near the village of Church Fenton. Plans for a new airfield adjacent to the village of Church Fenton were announced in June 1935, it was subject to protest from the local population particularly concerning the waste of valuable farming land and was close to an existing airfield not far away at Sherburn. Despite the protests construction started in early 1936 on the site, which was a mixture of private and West Riding County Council-owned farm land. On 1 April 1937, the station was declared open and on 19 April the first station commander Wing Commander W.E. Swann assumed command. Within two months No. 71 Squadron RAF had arrived with their Gloster Gladiators. Second World War Opened in 1937, the station saw the peak of its activity during the years of the Second World War, when it served within the defence network of fighter bases of the RAF providing protection for the Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Humberside industrial regions. During September 1940, it became home to the first RAF "Eagle squadron" of American volunteers being No. 71 Squadron RAF. The airfield was also home to both the first all-Canadian and all-Polish squadrons, with No. 242 Squadron RAF for the Canadians and No. 306 Squadron RAF for the Polish. As technologies evolved, the first night fighter Operational Training Unit (54 OTU) was formed at Church Fenton in 1940 and stayed until 1942. P-51D Mustang "Frenesi" (N357FG)

File Description: This is a repaint for the payware Warbirdsim P-51D "Mustang Tales" product. This repaint depicts the latest Mustang restoration to emerge from Midwest Aero Restorations, completely stock, which just had its first test flight from Danville, Illinois on January 30th. The aircraft is F-6K 44-12852 (restored as a P-51D), owned/operated by Dan Friedkin/Comanche Fighters, based in Texas. Sold surplus immediately following WWII, registered as NX66111, the aircraft was entered into the 1946 Cleveland Air Races as racer #80 "Full House", but its engine blew and was forced to crash-land. Later, the aircraft was sold to Jack Hardwick in the early 50's and crudely rebuilt, with a jump seat and rudimentary dual controls installed in the back of the cockpit, and would soon be sold onto the Dominican Air Force in 1954, becoming FAD 1900 (#2). The aircraft served with the Dominican AF until it was sold and imported back into the US by Brian O'Farrell in 1984. Made serviceable, the aircraft flew again on the US register as N21023 by 1990, and was sold to Jim Beasley Sr. and later owned/operated by Jim Beasley Jr., of Coatesville, PA (sharing hangar space with their P-51D "Bald Eagle"). During this time the aircraft was painted as "Frenesi", the personal mount of WWII 357th Fighter Group ace Gen. Tommy Hayes (the name inspired from a 1940 Artie Shaw tune). By the early 2000's, showing the effects of poor-quality work done on repairing/restoring the aircraft in the past, a complete rebuild of the airframe began. By 2009, the project was sold to Dan Friedkin, now registered as N357FG, and the restoration was continued at Midwest Aero Restorations, known for their award-winning authentic Mustang rebuilds. The aircraft has now emerged in early 2017, resplendent and flying again in the markings of "Frenesi".
