File Description:

For Manfred Jahn's C-47 with Jan Visser's VVC, version 3.14, a repaint in the schema of Vintage Airways. An airline founded in 1992 by Richard Branson which operated 1940s-themed nostalgia air tour flights from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale and Key West. They operated one C-47 (N12RB, Amelia) and one C-53 (N22RB, Eve). For more info on the airlines see: http://www.sunshineskies.com/vintage.html

Besides the outside, the inside and the pilot's got a different look. Also added some more details, especially at the tires and gear struts.

These are repaint only, you need to install the beautiful freeware plane first.

It's available here: https://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=198659 Update/fix: https://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=199046

Big thanks to Manfred Jahn and his team for creating this beautiful model and Jan Visser and his team for all the work done to improve this model even further. Ted "TuFun" Wolfgang for the improved engine textures. For this repaint the excellent paintkit by Gordon "Gman5250" Madison was used.

Douglas C-47 (X-1) Dutch Air Force Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for version 3.14 of the Douglas C-47 by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of X-1 of the Dutch Air Force. The Dutch Air Force received her first Dakota's in 1952, although they owned one in 1946, but that crashed near Katwijk the same year and was destroyed. That one carried the registration X-1, but that is not the subject of my paint... The Air Force later leased one C-47 from the KLM, gave it the military registration X-2, but it kept its civil registration, PH-TBV, on the tail. Later they leased a few more, and clearly they liked them, because they bought a few more in 1952. The first one was taken on charge in 1952 and was numbered X-1 as depicted in this repaint. The makers badge with its construction number was missing however, and nobody seems to know where this aircraft came from. The logbook mentions the aircraft was 'found'. There was a rumour that the aircraft had been used by refugees from the east and landed at Valkenburg airfield without registration. About a year later, in the aircraft made an emergency landing near Valkenburg after taking off for a relief flight for the flooded areas in the south of the Netherlands on 6 februari 1953 and was written off.Repaint by Jan Kees Blom for Manfred Jahn's C-47 version 3.14, based on the paintkit by Gman5250.

It was originally constructed for the USAAF in 1944 as a C-47B-35-DK and allocated the military serial 44-76336. In February 1945 it was acquired by the RAAF and allocated the serial A65-72. Operated until 1959, it was then sold to Adastra Airways and converted for civil use. Adastra Aerial Surveys was acquired by East-West Airlines Ltd in April 1973 and VH-AGU was re-registered to East-West Airlines on 12 November 1974. East-West won the MLS trials support contract in December 1974 and VH-AGU was re-painted in East-West colours at Tamworth in the month prior to positioning at Melbourne/Essendon for the commencement of the contract on 25 January 1975. At some stage in the late 1970s the aircraft was transferred to South Coast Aviation, another East-West subsidiary. The aircraft was withdrawn from service in August 1979 at Essendon at the conclusion of its Departmental charter, and sold to Aerodyne Pty Ltd of Moorabbin. Since then, it has had several owners, and is still airworthy, flying in a USAF Vietnam war scheme from Morwell, Victoria.
