This folder contains a repaint for the FG-1D Corsair by Milviz for MSFS, in the colors of Chance-Vought F4U-5N Corsair was built in 1951. After serving with the US Navy, it went to Honduras in the mid 50's. In 1978, the Honduran Air Force sold nearly all their Corsairs to Hollywood wings in the USA, some even flying. Other were sent by rail, and assembled in the USA, which might have mixed up parts. It is believed the VH-III was originally BuNo 123168/FAH603. The Walt Disney company bought it in 1987 and gave it to the RNZAF in thanks for helping out with a movie. The RNZAF traded it with Graham Hoskins for a Cutriss P-40F. The aircraft was then restored in Darwin and made its first post restoration flight in 2014, painted in Honduran colors. It is based at Tyabb airfield in Victoria, Australia. This folder contains a repaint for the FG-1D Corsair by Milviz, in the colors of F4U-1 BuNo 55995 of VF-17, the aircraft flown by Lt (jg) Ira C. Kepford, Bougainville, February 1944. Ira Cassius Kepford was born in Harvey, Illinois, on May 29, 1919, son of George Raymond and Emma McLaughlin Kepford. His family moved to Muskegon, Michigan, shortly after he was born. An all-around athlete at Muskegon High School from 1935-1937, he capped his prep career by being named an All-State back in his senior year. He enrolled at Northwestern University in 1938 to study for a dentistry career.
He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve on August 18, 1941, and was honorably discharged on April 29, 1942, to accept appointment as Aviation Cadet, U.S.N.R. After flight training at the Naval Air Stations, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Miami, Florida, he became a Naval Aviator on November 5, 1942, and was commissioned Ensign, U.S.N.R., with date of rank October 16, 1942.
Detached from Naval Air Station, Miami, Florida, in December 1942, he served with Fighting Squadron 17 in the Pacific War Area until March 1944, where he became the U.S. Navy's leading ace, scoring a record 16 confirmed Japanese planes destroyed. That squadron won the Navy Unit Commendation and he was personally awarded the Navy Cross, a Gold Star in lieu of the second Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
From March until June he was attached to the Fleet Air, Alameda, Command, and the last six months of that year served with Fighting Squadron 84. In December 1944 he was transferred to the staff of Commander Fleet Air, West Coast, and remained in that assignment throughout the remaining period of hostilities. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.

This folder contains a repaint for the FG-1D Corsair by Milviz, in the colors of F4U-1D NZ5545 of the RNZAF. BuNo 50454 was shipped to New Zealand aboard USS Saltlake Park, was assembled in Hobsonville in June 1944 and received the name 'Corsair' on the nose. It was used for demonstrations and displays around New Zealand. It was later attached to the Fighter Gunners School in Ardmore from November 1944 till July 1945. It was sold in 1948 to J. Larsen of Palmerston North. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the FG-1D Corsair by Milviz, in the colors of FG-1D N700G BuNo 88303 is part of the Flying Heritage Museum Collection. The aircraft was built in Akron, Ohio in April 1945. It is a combat veteran having been flown by the Marine aviators of VMF-115 in the southern Philippines in July and August 1945. The Marines were based at Zamboanga and flew close air support and combat air patrols during these months.
The aircraft rode out Typhoon Louise on Okinawa in October 1945 and then rotated through a number of training commands before disposal in 1958.
While under civilian ownership, it was flown at the Flying W, a western themed airpark in New Jersey, exhibited at a museum, and flown off the USS Carl Vinson in August 1995 during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum acquired the Corsair in September 1998. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.
