| YCDN Corunna Downs Station and Old Corunna Downs RAAF (Closed) |

File Description:
Corunna Downs heritage listed RAAF Base was a secret airfield located in scrub and spinifex country, about 16 kms south west of Marble Bar, the hottest part of the "The Pilbara" area of Western Australia. Not a very ideal place to have a tent city. Today there are very few reminders of the once busy airfield. One can see some crumbling foundations and half filled post holes. 73 OBU operated the Corunna Downs airfield which comprised two intersecting bitumen runways, now regressed and graded occasionally. One ran approximately north-south, 5,000 feet in length while the other ran approximately east-west, 7,000 feet in length. Both runways were approximately 150 feet wide. A 50 foot wide taxiway linked the northern end of the north-south runway to the western end of the east-west runway. Approximately 20 camouflaged revetments to disperse aircraft to minimise bomb damage were constructed at Corunna Downs. Permission is required for landing and there may be vegetation on the strip if not graded recently. No cones or windsock so be careful. Corunna Downs Homestead is also heritage listed and consists of graded strips and homestead complex. Start points are at the homestead and the RAAF base is to the west. | YDON Dowerin Town and Airstrip (Modelled for Dowerin Field Days) |

File Description:
YDON Dowerin is home to the Dowerin GWN Field Days, currently a two day annual event (held in the last week of August) showcasing agricultural and associated equipment, as well as providing information and services to people from rural areas. The Field Days attract on average in excess of 600 exhibitors as well as over 15,000 local and national visitors each day.
The event was first held as the Dowerin Machinery Field Day on 3 September 1965, and was the result of meetings by the Dowerin Progress Association the previous year which looked at ideas to prevent the town of Dowerin from becoming a ghost town. Some twenty exhibitors and two thousand visitors attended the first field day, with funds raised from the first event going towards funding the construction of a dam and a grassed tennis court. The event continues to be run and managed by the local community, with three full time staff and 400 volunteers involved in the event's running each year. REQUIRES Blencowe_LibraryKit.zip

YKLN Kulin Town and YJLN Kulin, Jilakin Rock. Kulin is located in the upper great southern Wheatbelt of Western Australia, the Shire of Kulin covers an area of 4,790 square kilometres. It encompasses the towns of Kulin, Pingaring, Dudinin, Jitarning, and Holt Rock. The Kulin economy is based on agriculture and was settled by pastoralists in 1905. The crosswind runway is actually 7 miles to the east at Jilakin Rock and slopes uphill to the east. For convenience, I have used fictitious YJLN. Jilakin Downs is a Dorper sheep stud farm and the home of the Kulin Bush Races. Dorpers are currently under a cloud in Western Australia as the local abatoirs claim their hair is contaminating the meat and won't accept them. "We welcome air traffic to our 2012 Kulin Bush Races Weekend. A crosswind airstrip is available, with a shuttle bus service to the Jilakin Track. GPS position is S32-39-95 E118-18-71 and the elevation is 950 feet. The strip is 7 nautical miles east of the town of Kulin. Camping and toilets are close to the strip so that you can camp near your plane.
Kulin airstrip is also available for landing and takeoff during the weekend, a shuttle bus is available to take you out to the race track. If this option is chosen please contact Barry West. YWSX Westonia - Town, airstrip and Edna May Goldmine - Westonia, Tidy Town for 2009, is located in Western Australia's wheat belt, 316 kilometres east of Perth, 306 kilometres west of Kalgoorlie and 55 kilometres east of Merredin. Catalpa Resources Ltd Edna May Mine Operations boasts an impressive forward sold position of 352,316 ounces of gold at A$1,557.50 per ounce. At a hedge book weighted average gold price of A$1,400 per ounce Catalpa expects to realise an average cash operating margin of A$72 million per annum. Westonia "Airport" is a spartan sand strip with a windsock and no cones, visited by the RFDS monthly and used by one or two locals. Kugaaruk is on the coast of northern mainland Canada on the Boothia Peninsula, 60 miles into a deep north-south fjord-like inlet called Pelly Bay. The name was changed from Pelly Bay in 1999, and the population is around 800. Gjoa Haven is 150 miles to the west, and Hall Beach just over 200 miles to the east. Six miles south of the village, and connected by a gravel road, there is a NWS station and what remains of a DEW Auxiliary Site; the DEW site was closed in 1992, a year after the NWS station became operational. There is also a 3,350 feet long gravel runway beside Barrow Lake 2 miles east of the site, Pelly Bay CWPB. Kugaaruk airfield is adjacent to the village and the 5,000 feet of 100 feet wide gravel runway is aligned 049T/229T where T stands for "true" as opposed to magnetic. There are flights by First Air and Canadian North and the AI includes a daily flight of each from Yellowknife via Gjoa Haven (as per real life) plus a cargo visit by Buffalo. Although the runway is long enough to accomodate a 737 it is not licensed for regular scheduled jet flights; the reason for this is that the approach lighting is "inadequate". Included here is a new .bgl for Gjoa Haven which will remove the small hold short line from the gravel; my mistake.
