Boeing B-52 Stratofortress (Part 4). The B-52 first flew in 1952, the last one was built in 1961, and there are still over 90 of the original 744 airframes either in front-line service or in a ready-reserve status. With extensive avionics upgrades starting this year, the USAF plans on using the B-52s until 2045, 93 years after first flight. The aircraft has an impressive resume, having served in five shooting wars and was the backbone of Strategic Air Command's nuclear deterrent air component during almost forty years of Cold War service.
Jake Burrus started this AI traffic model a couple of years ago, and I was honoured to pick up the project and get it across the finish line, with no small amount of help from Mike MacIntyre, as usual. This is a 7-LOD AI traffic model representing the Stratofortress in all of its operational service. This is part 4, showcasing the early B-52G, and covering use from initial production in 1957 through use in Vietnam, and includes a total of 48 repaints. Also included are optional models for VFR traffic use. Aircraft model by Jake Burrus and Mike Pearson, master textures and repaints by Mike Pearson, flight dynamics by Mike MacIntyre. Convair F-106 Delta Dart. I present a comprehensive AI traffic model package for the last of the Century Series fighter aircraft, one of the backbones of Air Defense Command and Air National Guard squadrons from the late-1950s to late-1980s. The "Six" first flew in 1956, and over 300 of these aircraft served as strategic interceptors during the height of the Cold War. Late examples served until 1988, over thirty years after its introduction; and many were expended as target drones on live fire ranges. Additionally, the Six, in a last hurrah of sorts, was the dedicated chase aircraft for the B-1 bomber test flights, because of its speed, and low-cost as a "has-been" aircraft. An original 7-LOD model brings this historic aircraft to the flightsim world.
This package is a complete representation of the F-106 through its entire career, in the service of the USAF as well as NASA. Models included are F-106A with early/late canopy, F-106B, and QF-106A/B manned and un-manned drones, with a total of 13 models and 70 repaints, to include over 30 individual squadron schemes. This is a representation of SX-AWD, of the Athens Aeroclub based in Tatoi LGTT, north of Athens. It is used by all club members holding a PPL and is the next step of graduation by all pilots who have completed their basic training in the trusty smaller brother the Cessna 152 II. It is also available for pleasure flights and initiation flights for non members.
The actual plane is an older "M" model with carburetor equipped engine so there are several model differences from the "R" represented by A2A including antennae, landing lights on the nose and very different cockpit with no headrests and different door interior and instrument panel. The actual one is also equipped with an ASI in mph instead of knots.
