Herb's field near highway 417 in Ontario Canada

File Description:
Herb's field is an unlicensed grass strip near a junction and a gas station on highway 417, some twenty miles west of the Ontario/Quebec border. I saw it a while back from the air and forgot about it, then saw it again when I was driving along the highway. Couldn't miss it because of the two red and white checkerboard hangers. So here it is.

Ogdensburg International KOGS New York state close to the St. Lawrence River

File Description:
Ogdensburg is called "International" but there is in fact very little activity, in spite of Big Sky Airways now operating flights between Ogdensburg and Boston. The airfield and the town of the same name are close to the St. Lawrence and the border with Ontario in Canada, and would be very convenient for a cross border hop except for the stepped up security that now applies to cross-border flights. So it is now even emptier than before, in spite of the excellent condition of the 5,200' runway.

Carleton Place airfield CNR6 near Ottawa in Canada, a REVISED version

File Description:
Carleton Place was modelled a year ago and posted. This version has a new grass background which is more realistic and also supports winter snow. This is the first in an updated series of sceneries around Ottawa, and it replaces entirely the previous version, which should be deleted.

Rideau Lakes airfield CRL2 near Ottawa in Canada, a REVISED version

File Description:
Rideau Lakes was made and posted a year ago and this version has a revised grass background which looks more realistic and supports snow. The latter is important for Canadian sceneries. This is the second in a series of revised Ottawa area sceneries, and this version replaces the first one which should be deleted, if you already have it.

File Description:
Northwest Airlines NC Airbus A330 - 300 for the Overland / Simmer's Sky A330. This is a textures only package since of course the model although excellent, is payware. Repaint features mainly 32-bit textures for superior quality as well as DXT3 for less noticeable parts that don't need high quality and loading times. Also features custom night lighting, wings, shading, shine and dirt effect, plus a regard for realism and accuracy. We hope you enjoy this paint! The -200 will come soon after.

FSX patch for Rio de Janeiro mesh

File Description:
FSX brings as default a very good mesh for Rio de Janeiro City, showing the Sugar Loaf very detailed, in LOD 10. However, that mesh cover a limited area and changes its resolution to LOD 6, yet in a mountainous region. The consequences are visibles cuts in the relief, mainly in Paralel S22* 30'. The solution we found was to compile the neighbours area at North, West and East, in LOD10 resolution changing to LOD 9, so to smooth the transition from those differents resolutions.

The year is 1942/43 and B-25 bombers are being churned out of the factories in their hundreds. This period large-format Kodachrome photograph - from the archives of the US Government - is courtesy of www.shorpy.com. Avro Lancastrian II

File Description:
A close derivative of the war-time Lancaster bomber, the Lancastrian was fitted with streamlined nose and tail cones. Lancastrians were used as long-range freighters, VIP transports, and jet engine test beds by the RAF, as fast long-range airliners and mailplanes by Trans Canada Air Lines, BOAC, BSAA, QUANTAS, and Alitalia, and as tankers by Flight Refuelling Ltd. Charter operators were Skyways and Silver City. Eighty-two aircraft were build, but most of them had vanished in scrapyards by the early nineteen-fifties. In the immediate post-war years, TCA offered twice-weekly Lancastrian flights from Dorval, Canada, to Prestwick and London, while BOAC and BSAA (under chief pilot D.C.T. Bennett) operated flights to Australia and South America, all based on a rather uneconomical ratio of five crew to up to fourteen passengers. The outbound leg from Hurn to Learmouth, Australia, took three days and well over fifty hours flying time, with Lydda, Karachi, and Ceylon serving as staging posts. BSAA's London to Buenos Aires flight took 56 hours. Either way, one needs to have plenty of time on one's hands to recreate these epic journeys. Gmax exterior model and textures by Manfred Jahn, FDE and 2D panel by Paul Edwards (based on a panel by Phil Perrott of Alphasim). The three texture sets included represent VM734 of 246 Squadron RAF, G-AGLY ("Norfolk") of BOAC, and G-AKFG of Flight Refuelling Ltd.

US Navy SNJ-5C, Baron Field, Alabama

File Description:
This is a repaint of Alphasim's excellent T-6/SNJ. These textures represent a SNJ-5C that was assigned to the Training Squadron at Baron Field, Alabama, The field became know as "Bloody Baron for the large number of training accidents. This squadron was used to train Naval & USMC fledgling pilots in the fine are of carrier aviation and subsequently make their trip out to the ship for qualification. This a sister to the plane that is hanging in the National Museum of Naval Aviation at NASP. Alphasim did not produce a -5C model so there is no visable hook, There is a modification that can be done to the aircarft.cfg file that will simulate a hook is in place and allow traps. THESE ARE TEXTURES ONLY! You need the ALPHASIM Texan/Harvard FSX or FS9 payware package.
