RAF Harwell 1944 - Oxfordshire, England

File Description:
RAF Harwell is a former Royal Air Force station in former Berkshire, near the village of Harwell, located 4.8 miles (7.7 km) south east of Wantage, Oxfordshire and 17 miles (27 km) north west of Reading. The bulk of the Station lay within Chilton parish; about a third was in East Hendred; and the smallest portion was in Harwell. The first Commanding Officer, upon being asked what the name of the new airfield should be, responded that it should be named after the parish in which his house lay – and this happened to be Harwell.

X3SF- Snitterfield - Warwickshire, England

File Description:
RAF Snitterfield (ICAO x3SF) is a former Royal Air Force station located west of Snitterfield, Warwickshire, England, 3.3 miles (5.3 km) north of Stratford-upon-Avon and 4.6 miles (7.4 km) south-east of Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire. RAF Snitterfield was operational during the Second World War, the airfield was a class A airfield and had around 30 aircraft dispersals. The airfield was finished around June 1942 and cost around £1,147,000 and opened in 1943 and with the cessation of hostilities the Air Ministry having no further use for the Station it closed in 1946. RAF Topcliffe - Yorkshire, England

File Description:
RAF Topcliffe (ICAO: EGXZ) is a Royal Air Force station in North Yorkshire, England. It is a satellite station serving in the role of a Relief Landing Ground for Tucano aircraft of the Central Flying School (CFS) based nearby at RAF Linton-on-Ouse (one of two, the other being Dishforth Airfield). As such, no RAF personnel are based permanently at the airfield and airfield services are provided by personnel assigned to RAF Linton-on-Ouse.

Topcliffe is also used by the Air Training Corps as a motor glider airfield for Gliding induction courses and Gliding scholarships.

Inezgane Airport or Agadir Inezgane Airport (ICAO: GMAA) is an airport in Agadir, the capital city of the Souss-Massa region in Morocco. The airport is located approximately 14 km (9 mi) northwest of Agadir's Al Massira Airport.After being replaced by the Al Massira airport for civilian service, it is now a Royal Moroccan Air Force air base. RAF Dunholme Lodge - Lincolnshire, England **UPDATE**

File Description:
This is an-update to correct the location of the Tower, if you have installed my version uploaded on the 15 or 23 Oct 15 RAF Dunholme Lodge was a Royal Air Force station located between the parishes of Welton and Dunholme in Lincolnshire, England.

The grass airfield was first used by the Royal Air Force during 1941 and 1942 for use by Handley Page Hampden aircraft from nearby RAF Scampton, and was officially opened as a RAF Station in September 1942 as part of RAF Bomber Command with the building of three hard runways.

The main occupier of the station was 44 Squadron, with the Avro Lancaster four-engined heavy bomber, which moved in from RAF Waddington in May 1943 and stayed until it moved to RAF Spilsby in September 1944.

In November 1944 flying operations ceased due the proximity of other stations which did not allow night flying. At the end of the war 120 Lancaster's had been lost on operations from Dunholme Lodge.

From 1948 the site was host to motorcycle and car racing until 1959 when the base was reopened as an active RAF station when it became an active Bloodhound surface-to-air missile station with 141 Squadron. The Squadron in 1964 and the station finally closed in 1964. Source: Wikipedia.

X3SY - RAF Saltby - Leicestershire, England

File Description:
RAF Saltby (ICAO X3SY)was a World War II airfield in Leicestershire, England. The airfield is located approximately 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Melton Mowbray; about 90 miles (140 km) north-northwestof London. It was opened in 1942, and was used by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. During the war it was used primarily as a transport airfield. Like many airfields of the time it closed after the war in 1945 but kept in reserve until 1955. Today the remains of the airfield are located on private property and, now known as Saltby Airfield, is used primarily for gliding. Source: Wikipedia

RAF Staplehurst - Kent, England

File Description:
RAF Staplehurst is a former World War II airfield in Kent, England. The airfield is located approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Staplehurst; about 38 miles (61 km) southeast of London.

Opened in 1943, Staplehurst was a prototype for temporary Advanced Landing Grounds built in France after D-Day, and as the Allied forces moved east across France and Germany. It was used by the Royal Air Force, Canadian and the United States Army Air Forces. It was closed in September 1944. Today the airfield is a mixture of agricultural fields with no recognizable remains, except a memorial now near the site.

RAF Horsham St Faith - Norfolk, England

File Description:
RAF Horsham St Faith is a former Royal Air Force station near Norwich, Norfolk, England which was operational from 1939 to 1963. It was then developed as Norwich International Airport. The airfield was first developed in 1939 and officially opened on 1 June 1940 as a bomber station. It had been built pre-war and had five C-type hangars, permanent brick and tiled buildings with central-heating and a high standard of domestic accommodation. RAF Horsham St. Faith was a front-line RAF station for many years, and its squadrons participated in many post-war exercises. The station was deactivated on 1 August 1963.

RAF Downham Market - Norfolk, England

File Description:
RAF Downham Market was a Royal Air Force station in the west of the county of Norfolk in the United Kingdom which operated during the second half of the Second World War.

Opening as a satellite station for RAF Marham in the Summer of 1942. The station was equipped with three concrete runways, six T2 hangars were built, three of which were for the storage of gliders, 36 hard-standings were also built, although this dropped to 34 when an additional B1 hangar was added.

After closure as an operational airfield in 1946, the airfield remained in a derelict state until it was finally sold in 1957.

RAF Holme On Spalding Moor

File Description:
Built during the Second World War, RAF Holme On Spalding Moor was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a bomber station, and after the war as a transport airfield and bomb store before being "mothballed". In the 1950s, the RAF used the station as a training camp before it was transferred to the United States Air Force (USAF) as a reserve station during the Cold War. After USAF use, it became a testing airfield for Blackburn Aircraft and its successor British Aerospace until 1983, when the airfield was closed. Many of the airfield buildings survive as an industrial estate, but all of the runways have been demolished. Source:Wikipedia
