Slick / Aviation Traders Douglas C-54A Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This package contains two repaints for Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-4 & C-54 V3.0. One repaint represents Resort Airlines' C-54A (modified to DC-4 standard) N65142 while on lease to Slick Airways from 1 July 1959 till 30 June 1960 for military charter flying (Logair) for the U.S. Goverment. After having returned to Resort Airlines she was placed in open storage at Oakland, CA. The other repaint represents the same aircraft in her British ferry markings she carried in July 1961. Around 1961-62 five ex-Resort C-54s which had been stored at Oakland for some time, ranging from several months to 6 years, were rescued by Aviation Traders (of Southend and Stansted, England) from the scrapdealer's axe and converted to ATL.98 Carvair car-ferry and cargo aircraft. N65142, which was in a very poor condition after her Logair period of minimal maintenance and repeated overloading, as well as the abuse by the elements during the open air storage close to sea water, was one of these lucky birds.

These are textures only. You will need Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-4 & C-54 (DC4_V30X.ZIP). Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.

B-24 USAAF 376th BG "Lady be Good" Download

File Description:
Following an April 4, 1943 bombing raid on Naples, Italy, conducted by the 376th Bomb Group, the Lady Be Good of the 514th Bomb Squadron failed to return to base. After attempts to locate the plane, its nine crewmen were classified as MIA, and presumed dead, believed to have perished after crashing in the Mediterranean. Almost 16 years later on Nov. 9, 1958, several British geologists were flying over the desolate, sun-baked Libyan Desert. At approximately 400 miles south of Soluch, they spotted an aircraft on the sand. A ground party that reached the site in March 1959 discovered the plane to be a B-24D. The "Lady Be Good" had been found. Evidence at the site indicated that the crew had become lost in the dark on return from Naples and had flown over their base and southward into the desert. As their fuel supply became depleted, the nine men aboard had bailed out but had disappeared while attempting to walk northward to civilization. Intensive searches were made for clues as to the fate of the crew, and in 1960 the remains of eight were found, one near the plane and the other seven far to the north. Five had trekked 78 miles across the tortuous sand before perishing and one had gone an amazing 109 miles. In addition, they had lived eight days rather than only two expected of men in this area with little or no water. The body of the ninth man was never found. Repaint for the Alphasim B-24 by Jan Kees Blom.

B-24 USAAF 489th BG "Sharon D" Download

File Description:
This Ford-built B-24H was assigned to Lt Col Leon Vance, deputy commander of the 489th BG. It was Vance who had brought the aircraft from the US to Halesworth. The bomber was named after its pilot’s infant daughter Sharon, who had been born in 1942. Lt Col Vance was flying a different aircraft on the 5 June 1944 mission against a German coastal defence complex near Wimereaux, France-a mission in which the latter aircraft was lost, and for which Vance was awarded the Medal of Honor. He was the only B-24 crew member in the Eighth Air Force accorded this distinction whilst flying a mission from the UK. Vance was heading home to recover from combat wounds when he went down on a C-54 Skymaster carrying wounded and crippled veterans over the North Atlantic on 26 July 1944. In October 1946, at the age of four, Sharon Vance travelled via US Army Air Forces transport to Enid, Oklahoma (now home of Vance Air Force Base), for a ceremony in which Maj Gen James P Hodges gave her the Medal of Honor awarded to her father. Today, daughter Sharon Kiernan of San Diego, California, is an Air Force wife, and she helps to keep alive the memory of her father, and of the bomber named after her. The Sharon D retained its nickname throughout the war, and was eventually transferred to the 445th BG. It survived the conflict, and was eventually broken up for scrap. Resort Airlines Douglas C-54A (N57670) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This package contains two repaints for Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-4 & C-54 V3.0. Featured is the C-54A (modified to DC-4 standard) N57670 of Resort Airlines: one repaint representing the aircraft around 1956, the other at the end of its open air storage in 1961. Resort Airlines Inc (of Washington, DC, and Oakland, CA) was a US non-scheduled carrier that specialised in the operation of inclusive holiday tours to the Caribbean and also in military charter flying (Logair). The airline was operative between 1945 and 1960. Its fleet comprised of Curtiss C-46, Lockheed 1049H Super Constellation and Douglas DC-4/C-54 aircraft. Around 1961-62 five C-54s which had been stored at Oakland for some time, ranging from several months to 6 years, were rescued by Aviation Traders (of Southend and Stansted, England) from the scrapdealer's axe and converted to ATL.98 Carvair car-ferry and cargo aircraft. N57670, which was active with Resort during 1954-1956 only and had been deteriorating during the open air storage, was one of these lucky birds.

These are textures only. You will need Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-4 & C-54 (DC4_V30X.ZIP). Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.

FSX/P3D Ethiopian Airlines 707-379C 1968 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint of the 707-379C in Ethiopian Airlines colors. The payware 707-300C by Captain Sim is needed for this repaint. Ethiopian Airlines was established in 1946 by the Emperor Haile Sellassie, and TWA which provided technical and managerial support. Regular operations commenced on April 8 1946 with a fleet of 6 ex USAAF DC-3s. Later in 1950, 2 Convair CV-240s entered the fleet. Then in 1958, the first DC-6B arrived on the scene. On January 1 1959 Ethiopian officially became a member of IATA. The first jet services started in 1963 after the delivery of the carrier's first Boeing 720s. The 720s replaced the DC-6Bs on the European routes. In 1964, Ethiopian started a new pilot training school, installed a large IBM computer system, and also established the largest jet overhaul facility in Africa. 707s, 727s, and 737s, joined the fleet in the ensuing years. Today Ethiopian ranks as Africa's supreme air carrier with a safe and reliable service, notwithstanding the 737 Max 8 tragedy, and has a vast route network. The cherry on top was when in 2014, Ethiopian dethroned South African Airways as the "Best African Airline". Textures are 32 bit dds and DXT5 textures are included as well. This repaint was tested FSX-SE. It should work on FSX & P3Dv1-3.
