DC3 Flying Tiger Lines Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Still fresh from their days with the American Volunteer Group in China, whose P-40s were adorned with shark's teeth, the founders of Flying Tigers perpetuated this theme on their recently purchased C-47s. This Bill Larkins photo was taken at San Francisco in 1946. FTL operated approximately a dozen or so before gradually acquiring the more capacious C-46s and later C-54s. NC59699 (c/n 13061) was an ex C-47A-20-DK, USAAF serial 42-93178 civlianized in 1946. When sold by Tigers it went to India as VT-CTZ. This is my first ever repaint for FSX. It could have been nicer, but the paintkit is hell to work with, with overlapping parts of fuselage and severe warping, asymetrical overlapping and mirroring on the nose textures. Included are repaints of the VW van, interior headrests with Tiger Line logo and stewardess. Copyright Toby Louwen For questions, contact [email protected]

WASP PT-17 Stearman (N59293) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint only, for the payware Vertigo Studios Stearman Vol.1 set. This repaint depicts the restored Stearman PT-17 N59293, owned/operated by Andrew and Mike Porter, based at Spring Lake, New Jersey. The aircraft was manufactured as USAAF 41-25714 and was used continually from June 1942 until June 1945. During WWII the aircraft had multiple assignments, one of which included Avenger Field in Sweetwater, Texas, home of the WASP (Women's Airforce Service Pilots), where it was based from February 1943 until August 1944. Sold surplus after the war, the aircraft was used as a crop duster in New Mexico all the way until 1981. Starting in 2006, the aircraft was restored to factory-original award-winning condition, and painted in the same markings it wore while stationed at Avenger Field, flying as a tribute to all of the WASP pilots. (In one of the aircraft's other WWII training assignments, Donald Strait flew this aircraft during flight training and would go on to become a double-ace flying P-51's with the 361st Fighter Squadron).

FSX/P3D/FS2004 Air Virginia Fairchild Metroliner II 1982 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint of the Fairchild Metroliner II in Air Virginia 1982 colors. The freeware Fairchild Metro III by Jon Murchison is needed for this repaint. Lynchburg based Air Virginia was formed by Rodney H. Jaeger in January 1979, and started operations with daily flights to Washington DC. They initially used Fairchild (Swearingen) Metro IIs, and Piper Navajo Chieftains. In 1981 they introduced the British Aerospace BAe 748-B2 to the fleet. 1983 saw them buy and merge Mid-South Airlines. Their route network expanded to 17 destinations by 1984; Maryland, Virginia,New York, New Jersey, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia. Later that year, the airline was purchased by Dimitri P. Nicholas. In 1985 they became a commuter partner of American Airlines, and inaugurated flights as the third member of the American Eagle commuter network. They changed their name to AV Air in November 1985, but by 1988 the airline ceased operations. This repaint depicts a Fairchild (Swearingen) SA226-TC Metro II of Air Virginia, which was delivered new to the airline in October 1980. Textures are 32bit bmp. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE. It should work on FSX, FS2004 & P3Dv1-3.

P51B #43-7061 'Old 7' Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the P-51B/C model for FSX by Warbirdsim. It shows 'Old 7', 43-7061, which was the pride and joy of the 2nd FS/52nd FG. It flew over 125 operational missions, amassing 778 flying hours and shot down at least 8 enemy aircraft, without suffering a single mechanical failure. It was lovingly maintained at first by S/Sgt Vincent Reagan, and later by S/Sgts James Lynes and C.G. Jones. By december 1944, it was the oldest aircraft in the 2nd FS, and it remained so. The officers and men of the 2nd FS were so proud of 'Old 7' that they tried to have her sent to the US for a warbond tour, but the Air Force was not interested. During its long career, it served as the regular mount for Capt. Arthur Johnston (who named it Marie and flew it as QP-M), Capt. William DeForest (when it was changed to Myrtle and QP-7) and Lt. Thomas Hoover, as well as several other pilots. Repaint by JanKees Blom, based on the warbirdsim paintkit.

AV Cargo "Lady Liege" McDonnell-Douglas MD-11F (Z-BAM) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
FSX McDonnell-Douglas MD-11F repaint textures for the real world AV Cargo Z-BAM "Lady Liege", for the freeware SMS Overland MD-11 with P&W 4460 engines, which you must have previously installed in FSX. I installed the (SMS-MD-11_Dutch_Package.zip) with VC which works well with this repaint. Also includes engine exhaust smoke coordinates which you can add to your "aircraft.cfg" if you wish. AV Cargo, the airline born out of the ashes of the defunct Avient, welcomes this second MD-11F, Zimbabwe registered Z-BAM "Lady Liege", into it's fleet. The aircraft is the second on lease from Boeing Capital Corp. Avient Aviation, the Zimbabwe registered airline, was taken over by Simon Clarke and Neil Glover. We have worked hard to ensure a good service on the routes we offer into West Africa. This has given us a solid foundation to build our network further in preparation for the additional capacity. AV Cargo is now operating twice per week to Bamako, three times to Lagos, and has added Monrovia to complement the services to Port Harcourt, Pointe Noire, Ouagadougou, and Freetown, with additional destinations to be added. Screenshots enclosed. Easy installation. Repaint by Tom Tiedman.

Riddle Airlines C-46 1959 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint of the C-46 in Riddle Airlines 1959 colors. The freeware C-46 by Libardo Guzman and Tom Gibson is needed for this repaint. Riddle Airlines was a a non scheduled carrier, which mainly focused on cargo flights, but passenger flights were also offered. It was founded in 1945 by John P. Riddle, who flew contract flights between Miami and Brazil during WW2. The airline was based at Miami. In late summer 1945, passenger and freight services were inaugurated between New York City and Puerto Rico. It expaned it's network to all of the Americas and the Carribean in the following years. Due to financial difficulties faced by most cargo carriers in ther 1950s, Riddle also accepted both civilian and military contracts and strengthened its fleet whenever possible. However, Riddle continued to face deep financial troubles, and in June 1962 all services were suspended. This crisis led to a reorganization of the airline in July 1962 under an entirely new management team, and the airline was back in the air thereafter. On November 29 of that year, Riddle was renamed Airlift International. This Riddle C-46, N74178, flew with the airline from 1960 to 1963. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE. Textures are 32bit bmp. It should work on FSX, P3D v1-3, & FS2004.

B-24 USAAF 489th BG "Sharon D" Download

File Description:
This Ford-built B-24H was assigned to Lt Col Leon Vance, deputy commander of the 489th BG. It was Vance who had brought the aircraft from the US to Halesworth. The bomber was named after its pilot’s infant daughter Sharon, who had been born in 1942. Lt Col Vance was flying a different aircraft on the 5 June 1944 mission against a German coastal defence complex near Wimereaux, France-a mission in which the latter aircraft was lost, and for which Vance was awarded the Medal of Honor. He was the only B-24 crew member in the Eighth Air Force accorded this distinction whilst flying a mission from the UK. Vance was heading home to recover from combat wounds when he went down on a C-54 Skymaster carrying wounded and crippled veterans over the North Atlantic on 26 July 1944. In October 1946, at the age of four, Sharon Vance travelled via US Army Air Forces transport to Enid, Oklahoma (now home of Vance Air Force Base), for a ceremony in which Maj Gen James P Hodges gave her the Medal of Honor awarded to her father. Today, daughter Sharon Kiernan of San Diego, California, is an Air Force wife, and she helps to keep alive the memory of her father, and of the bomber named after her. The Sharon D retained its nickname throughout the war, and was eventually transferred to the 445th BG. It survived the conflict, and was eventually broken up for scrap. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom for the AlphaSim 2008 Consolidated B-24 Liberator
