Sabena (Circa 1960) Douglas DC-6 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The first European operator of the Douglas DC-6 was the Belgian airline Sabena. The first of five DC-6s, which was registered OO-AWA (see Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-6 (dc6_v20x.zip)), was delivered on 15 July 1947. It was introduced on the Brussels-New York service in August 1947. Of course theDC-6s also operated on the Brussels-Leopoldville (now Kinshasa) route, the "lifeline" to the former Belgian colony Congo. From 1953 on they were joined by nine slightly larger DC-6Bs and one DC-6A. Except for OO-AWB which crashed in 1955, the "short" DC-6 had a remarkably long career with Sabena, incl. being leased to Air Congo. The last example was sold in 1965. Original textures by Jens B. Kristensen. Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

These are textures only. You will require Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-6 (dc6_v20x.zip).

Included are a new air file (FDE), a new aircraft.cfg file, and a fix for the fuel gauge. In addition to improving how the FSX Goose flies, extensive work has gone into how the engines and propellers are simulated. Please read the readme and changelog files included in this package for details and important information. REVISION: Some users have reported that after installation of version 1.0, the Grumman Goose fails to initialize when FSX is started. This revision includes an installation note in the readme that addresses the issue. Please read the IMPORTANT NOTE in the INSTALLATION section of the GD README for details. If you previously installed v1.0 and the aircraft loaded successfully, then you do not need this revision.

George Bush N2S-1 Stearman (N50061) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint only, for the payware Vertigo Studios Stearman Vol.1 set. This repaint depicts the restored Stearman N2S-1, N50061, owned/operated by Paul Ehlen and based at the Wings of the North Museum at Flying Cloud Airport, Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The aircraft, originally manufactured as U.S. Navy BuNo. 3347, is one of five Stearmans known to still exist that were flown by President George H. W. Bush as a cadet in the Navy. He flew this aircraft while training in the cold Minnesota winter at Wold-Chamberlain Airfield, Naval Air Station Minneapolis (modern-day KMSP), in January and early February 1943. The aircraft was sent to AirCorps Aviation for ground-up restoration in 2014, and emerged in 2015 as one of, if not the most period-authentic restored Stearmans to-date, restored to just as it was in 1943 (no electric starter (only hand-crank start) and no radios of any sort). The aircraft won "Best Stearman" at Oshkosh 2015.

This aircraft, MSN29079 was bought by Pegasus Aviation Finance Company in February 1999 and leased to Israir Airlines. Between December 2000 and March 2003 it operated for SunExpress and was then leased to Hamburg International. From late 2003 to Spring 2006 it was wet-leased to Kosova Airlines, with a modified livery at the tail and "Kosova Airlines" added at the front of the aircraft. In February 2008 it was sold to the Pembroke Group and leased to Sterling European. After Sterling's bankruptcy and sale it flew for Cimber Air in Denmark until Cimber too filed bankruptcy in spring 2012. It is currently stored at Shannon airport (EINN) in Ireland.

Transavia Douglas DC-6 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
In November 1966 the Dutch charter operator Transavia Holland started its activities with 2 Douglas DC-6 and 1 Douglas DC-6B aircraft. Despite stiff competition from KLM and Martinair Holland, Transavia was able to conquer a considerable part of the charter and inclusive tours market and expanded its fleet with a several more DC-6B's. In 1968 Transavia became involved in the relief airlift from Sao Tome to Biafra using its fleet of DC-6's. The next year the DC-6's were sold to Flughjalp who continued flying the Biafra missions till January 1970. Featured here are DC-6 PH-TRA (1966 livery) and DC-6 PH-TRB (1968 livery). Douglas VC-118-DO 'The Independence' Download

File Description:
This Douglas VC-118-DO was the personal aircraft of President Harry S. Truman. It was named 'The Independence' after President Truman's home town in Missouri. The aircraft was delivered on 1 July 1947 and served from 4 July 1947 on as a presidential aircraft till 1953 when Gen. Dwight Eisenhower became President of the USA. It seems that the rather special paint job was based on an idea by President Truman himself. 46-0505 served on as a general VIP transport till 1966 when it was donated to the Smithonian Institute for preservation. It is on loan to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.'The Independence' could accommodate for 24 day or 12 sleeper passengers (in the main cabin). It had a luxurious State Room aft of the passenger door. Usually there was a crew of eight. It is featured here in its original tan, blue and metal livery. You will require Jens B. Kristensen's great FSX Douglas DC-6 (early version) (dc6_v20x.zip). Original textures by Jens B. Kristensen. Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

Pilatus PC-6C KLU, IFOR, Sarajevo, 1996 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Pilatus PC-6C H2 Turbo Porter for FSX by Tim Conrad in a Royal Netherlands Air Force livery. The PC-6C Turbo Porter has been an amazing contribution to the STOL aircraft fleet around the world for decades. It's robust airframe and excellent aerodynamics make the plane very popular for para-drops, but also for supply missions in remote area's throughout the globe. Despite it's age the aircraft is still widely in use. This repaint represents a "what-if" RNLAF PC-6C in toned down camouflage 336 Sqn colours, IFOR, Sarajevo 1996. The Sqn logo is the old Curacao (Netherlands Antilles) 336 version which back then ended their F-27 Maritime operations. The RNLAF did participate in the Former Yugoslav, Bosnian peace enforcing operation with aircraft including C-130's, F-16's, and BO-105CB's. The aircraft shares the same registration as my earlier Surinam based livery (PC-6C_KLU.zip), but weathered, tone-down camouflage and 24 years later. You need the excellent freeware PC-6C H2 Turbo Porter by Tim Conrad in order to use this repaint. Enjoy!
