Images related to this file:

File Description:

For Manfred Jahn's C-47 with Jan Visser's VVC, version 3.14, a repaint in the schema of Vintage Airways. An airline founded in 1992 by Richard Branson which operated 1940s-themed nostalgia air tour flights from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale and Key West. They operated one C-47 (N12RB, Amelia) and one C-53 (N22RB, Eve). For more info on the airlines see: http://www.sunshineskies.com/vintage.html

Besides the outside, the inside and the pilot's got a different look. Also added some more details, especially at the tires and gear struts.

These are repaint only, you need to install the beautiful freeware plane first.

It's available here: https://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=198659 Update/fix: https://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=199046

Big thanks to Manfred Jahn and his team for creating this beautiful model and Jan Visser and his team for all the work done to improve this model even further. Ted "TuFun" Wolfgang for the improved engine textures. For this repaint the excellent paintkit by Gordon "Gman5250" Madison was used.

EGXJ - RAF Cottesmore - Rutland, England Download

File Description:
RAF Cottesmore (ICAO EGXJ) is a former Royal Air Force station in Rutland, England, situated between Cottesmore and Market Overton.

The Stationed opened on 11 March 1938 and was used mainly for training, and the first squadrons were equipped with Vickers Wellesley aircraft, but soon converted to Fairey Battles. Later RAF Bomber Command took over the airfield, again as a training station, flying Handley Page Hampdens. These units remained in residence until a few days before the outbreak of war in 1939 when they were sent to RAF Cranfield to serve as a pool providing replacements for combat losses. Their place at Cottesmore was taken by Nos. 106 and 185 Squadrons, moving in from RAF Thornaby with Hampdens. However, with the outbreak of war, the aircraft and crews were sent to locations in the north and west, as enemy air attacks were expected over the southern half of England. As these never materialised, the Hampdens returned in the spring of 1940 and No. 185 Squadron became the Hampden operational training unit, No. 14 Operational Training Unit RAF.

RAF Cottesmore's Hampdens' first trespass into hostile airspace was a leaflet dropping operation over northern France. In October 1940, 106 Squadron moved to RAF Finningley while No. 14 OTU remained training crews for Bomber Command, its Hampdens and HP.53 Herefords being replaced by Vickers Wellingtons in 1942. Training continued for three years and three months until August 1943 when No. 14 OTU moved to RAF Market Harborough.

In early December 2009, it was announced the station would close due to funding cut-backs, in part to help pay for additional helicopters for British operations in Afghanistan.
In 2010, No. 4 Squadron RAF disbanded, with No. 20 Squadron RAF re-badging as No 4 (Reserve) Squadron.
The station became a satellite to RAF Wittering on 31 March 2011 with a civic parade and flypast to mark the disbandment of No 1 Sqn RAF, 800 NAS, 801 NAS and JFH.
In July 2011 Defence Secretary Liam Fox announced plans for it to be the airfield for one of five of the Army's Multi-Role Brigades. In April 2012 it was renamed Kendrew Barracks after Major General Sir Douglas Kendrew.

Chance Vought F4-U Corsair Royal Navy X115 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A/Aircraft Factory F4-U Corsair, in the colors of the aircraft of Robert Hampton "Hammy" Gray VC, DSC. Lt Grey was a Canadian naval officer, pilot, and recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC) during World War II, one of only two members of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm to have been thus decorated in that war. The citation for his VC read: "The KING has been graciously pleased to approve the award of the VICTORIA CROSS for valour to: — the late Temporary Lieutenant Robert Hampton GRAY, R.C.N.V.R.,for great valour in leading an attack on a Japanese destroyer in Onagawa Wan, on 9th August, 1945. In the face of fire from shore batteries and a heavy concentration of fire from some five warships Lieutenant Gray pressed home his attack, flying very low in order to ensure success, and, although he was hit and his aircraft was in flames, he obtained at least one direct hit, sinking the destroyer. Lieutenant Gray has consistently shown a brilliant fighting spirit and most inspiring leadership." Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the A2A paintkit.

X2AD - RAF Aston Down - Gloucestershire, England Download

File Description:
Former RAF Aston Down (IACO X2AD) is located 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east of Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, South West England and 6.9 miles (11.1 km) west of Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The airfield was originally opened as RAF Minchinhampton and was first used in the First World War, serving as an aerodrome for the Australian Flying Corps with No. 2 Squadron AFC flying the Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a and the Sopwith Pup and No. 3 Squadron AFC flying the Avro 504. The airfield closed shortly afterwards. In 1938 the airfield reopened under the new name of RAF Aston Down at the request of the residents of Minchinhampton village, which lies about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the west of the airfield, who feared not enemy attack, but a fall in the value of their houses. During the Second World War the main unit present was No. 20 Maintenance Unit RAF (MU) which stored and prepared aircraft. The unit arrived during October 1938 and left in September 1960. The airfield was used by the Royal Air Force from the First World War until 1967 when the Cotswold Gliding Club moved in from their previous base near Tetbury.

Universal Airlines Douglas DC-8-54 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint of the DC-8-54 in Universal Airlines colors. The payware DC-8-50-70 by JustFlight is needed for this repaint. Universal Airlines was a U.S. supplemental carrier that operated from 1966 to 1972. It was based at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It was initially known as Zantop Air Transport. In 1967 the Zantop family sold the airline and it became Universal Airlines. Universal operated military charters for the USAF, in addition to their normal charter operations. The Lockeed L-188 Electras were introduced in 1967, and Universal added DC-8s, both standard and stretched versions, to their fleet in 1969. They also leased three additional DC-8s over the next three years. On June 4, 1970, Universal purchased American Flyers Airline, another supplemental carrier. Costs, led by fuel price increases, prevented the carrier from earning sufficient revenues to sustain the new merger. On May 4, 1972 Universal declared bankruptcy and shut its doors. Its USAF contract, together with the aircraft, were taken over by Saturn Airways. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE. It should work on FSX & P3D v1-3.
