KOMO TV Channel 4 Seattle "Air4" Bell JetRanger

File Description:
KOMO TV 4, the ABC affiliate in Seattle, Washington and consistently known as the best television station in America for 21 years running - and best newscast in America for 20 years in a row, operated this Bell JetRanger known as "Air4." The helicopter was an early Bell 206BIII, and bore the same rainbow-like paint scheme for nearly two decades. This paint scheme was also used on several of their ENG satellite news trucks - each one with the name "Newstar4." Unfortunately, this helicopter was retired in December of 1997 and replaced with a brand-new Bell 407 bearing an all-new black and blue metallic paint scheme featuring a gold "4" and green pinstripes. Air4 is piloted by veteran KOMO pilot Roger Fox, and this version of Air4 had no chin camera apparatus (there was always a photographer and reporter aboard incase of breaking news)It is not known where this helicopter is, nor what her N-Number was at the time. KOIN TV "Chopper Six"

File Description:
This repaint depicts the paint scheme currently being used by Portland, Oregon TV station KOIN-TV Channel Six. This paint scheme has been in use for over five years. Hillsboro Aviation leases the helicopter to KOIN, and also provides the helicopter for KATU Channel 2, Portland, as well as a helicopter for aerial tours of the Mount St. Helens blast area. In 1998, KOIN Television and Portland-area Circuit City stores teamed up to market a 1:24 scale toy replica of Chopper Six, complete with working navigation beacons and spinning rotor blades. Requires Owen Hewitt's Bell JetRanger package.

KOIN TV Chopper Six 1980 Version.

File Description:
This repaint depicts the scheme that Portland, OR, television station KOIN TV used on their helicopter back in 1980. It is based off of several photographs of the real helicopter found in a book about Mount St. Helens which was written by the KOIN TV "Newsroom 6 -(which was what KOIN called their newscasts at the time)" staff. The book is titled "Mt. St. Helens: The Volcano Explodes" and was published by KOIN TV shortly after its devastating May 18, 1980 eruption. This repaint requires Owen Hewitt's Bell 206B JetRanger III and best fits the base model, as chin cameras did not exist at the time this paint scheme was used.

KATU Channel 2 Portland, Oregon "JetRangerII"

File Description:
KATU Television in Portland, Oregon, an ABC affiliate and sister to KOMO TV in Seattle, Washington, operates this JetRanger appropriately named "JetRanger2." This helicopter, and an identical sister ship called "JetRanger1" operated under the tagline "The Power of Two" and both helicopters consistently outdid competitors KOIN and KGW in the aerial ENG helicopter coverage race. However, the duo of identical helicopters came to an end in December of 1997. While working for a Christmas Tree harvesting operation, the helicopter known as "JetRanger1" went out of control while slinging a load and crashed to the ground. Fortunately, the pilot was able to survive the wreck, although the helicopter was a total loss. JetRanger1 and JetRanger2 were leased to KATU by Hillsboro Aviation.

KING 5 TV "SkyKing5"

File Description:
KING 5 Television, the NBC affiliate in Seattle, Washington, has operated this AS350 Ecureuil for nearly two decades, and this paint scheme dates back as long as they've been using this helicopter. Appropriately named "SkyKing" on-air, this helicopter is used for aerial TV news coverage for KING 5 News. In addition, this helicopter is used for traffic reporting for the morning and noon editions of KING 5 News.Piloted by veteran KING 5 pilot Mark Hamill, this helicopter is perched atop the KING 5 Television studios just a few blocks away from Seattle's Space Needle on Dexter Avenue. Requires a full install of Peter and Tamas Nemeth's Aerospatiale AS350 B2 Ecureuil.

St. Helens Helicopter

File Description:
This repaint depicts the helicopter used in the movie "St. Helens" starring Art Carney. The movie dramatizes the events leading to the catastrophic eruption of Mount St. Helens on May 18th, 1980. This helicopter was used throughout the film in several different ways, and at the time was based out of Bend Municipal Airport in Bend, OR. Currently, this helicopter is based in New England and now bears a plain-white paint scheme. This repaint requires a full installation of Cyril Pioffet's Aerospatiale SA341G Gazelle.
