Alidair Viscount 814 G-AZNH

File Description:
One of the rarer members of the Alidair fleet this aircraft spent much of it's time out on lease and also was stranded in Guernsey for some months under repair after a nosewheel collapse on landing. Originally built for Lufthansa it was sold to Airwork in February 1972 who sold it on to the Sultan of Oman Air Force as 503. Alidair purchased it in January 1975 and it took up the marks G-AZNH allocated in 1972 but not worn. It was leased to Cyprus Airways (twice), DAN Air and Skyline Sweden before becomming 9G-ACL on sale to West Africa Air Cargo. It was written off in a landing accident in Monrovia, Liberia on 10th June 1978. Requires the FSDS Viscount 800 model by Rick Piper.

Alidair (Leased from BA) Viscount 806 G-AOYG

File Description:
To cover for a capacity shortage, Alidair leased this Viscount 806 from the Cambrian division of British Airways. With the BA logo and name covered over and simple Alidair titles added, this aircraft was in use betweeen February and April 1975. Requires the FSDS Viscount 800 model by Rick Piper.

Janus Airwas Viscount 708 G-ARGR

File Description:
Janus Airways of Lydd in Kent bought the three remaining Viscount 700 series from BAF who had taken over Inter City Airlines. Only two entered service and spent the summer season 1984 on coach air services across the English Channel. They were the last two passenger V.700 in the UK. In fact this aircraft made the last ever V.700 flight from and to the UK with a round trip from Lydd to Beauvais on 30th October 1984. Bought to suppliment Heralds already in use it was decided at the end of the year not to continue with the Viscounts and both were sold to MMM Aero Services of Zaire. This aircraft was broken up in Kinshasa in January 1987. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper

Alidair (Dan Air basic) Viscount 708 G-ARIR

File Description:
Having spent time on lease to DAN Air in their full livery, G-ARIR was returned to service intially still in partial DAN Air basic and Alidair titles applied on a sticker covering the former operators name. This aircraft survived Alidair/Inter City to be sold to Janus and later MMM Aero Services of Zaire, but only got as far as Ostend in Belgium where eventually it was broken up. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper

Guernsey Airlines Viscount 735 G-BFYZ

File Description:
In April 1978 Alidair bought the three Viscounts from Iraqi Airlines. One had been damaged beyond repair in a landing accident a few years before and was a spares source and the other two flew to Castle Donnington to be prepared for service. One went to Alidair Scotland as G-BFMW while this machine became G-BFYZ with the newly formed Guernsey Airlines. Taking up UK marks on 1st December 1978 it was leased to Guernsey Airlines on the 6th of the same month. the airline was up and running for the summer season or 1979. Wearing the name "Sarnia" the aircraft served throughout the Alidair network, with its Guernsey services often being operated by Alidair machines. This was not to be a long career as on October 25 1979 while landing at Kirwall the number four propeller struck the ground causing it to veer off the runway and the undercarriage to collapse. It was replaced by G-BDRC. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper

Inter City Airlines (Guernsey livery) Viscount 724 G-BDRC

File Description:
An extra V.700 was acquired from Air Inter but as V.724 was an odd member in the fleet. It went straight out on lease to Intra Airways and later served with Dan Air before comming back to Alidair to fly for Alidair Scotland. After The sister company Guernsey Airlines lost its own Viscount this aircraft was transferred and appeared in full Guernsey livery as "Sarnia II". Later it went back to DAN Air for a month before later appearing with Intercity logo on the fin as shown here. It retained it's Guernsey livery until the end of Inter City whereupon it was stored at Guernsey. Bought by Janus and flown to Exeter it was found on overhaul to be suffering from severe corrosion. It was transported by road to Manston, Kent to serve on the fire dump. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper

Inter City Airlines (Alidair livery) Viscount 708 G-ARIR

File Description:
March 1981 saw Alidair merge the various divisions to form Inter City Airlines. Unfortunatley the airline suffered losses and in September 1983 was sold to British Air Ferries. The three surviving Viscount 700's were of no interest to BAF. The Guernsey Airlines V.724 remained in store at Guernsey until bought by Janus and flown to Exeter where it was overhauled but found to be too corroded for further service. The two Series 708's including this one had already been sold to Janus and after a seasons service sold on to MMM Aero Services in Zaire. Now registered 9Q-CAN this machine was broken up in Kinshasa, Zaire in January 1987. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper

Guernsey Airlines (Alidair livery) Viscount 708 G-ARIR

File Description:
Guernsey Airlines was a wholly owned subsidury of Alidair and operated a single Viscount 735 (G-BFYZ), one of two purchased from Iraqi Airways. There was considerable interworking of the whole fleet which saw Alidair aircraft on Guernsey services and the Guernsey machine appearing throughout the network. It was on an Alidair flight that 'FYZ was written off. It was replaced by G-BDRC but in the meantime G-ARIR became the token aircraft flying still in Alidair livery but with Guernsey titles and smal crests behind the doors. The whole operation was merged into Inter City Airways in 1981.Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper
