Japan Airlines Boeing 777-246 "JA772J". Japan Airlines's Samantha Thavasa livery painted on Project Opensky's Boeing 777-200 aircraft. The textures are saved in 32bit format for quality graphics. Its features are Virtual Cockpit, Opening doors & Cargo doors, detailed textures, accurate paint, dynamic shine & effects, dynamic flexing wings that respond to turbulence, fully independent suspension, trim animation, gear steering, accurate flight dynamics, spoiler animation, reflective cockpit windows, crash effects, transparent navigation light lenses and many more. Grumman Albatross HU-16 Version 2.1
World War II Livery
Obviously the Albatross is a post war aircraft. Although the original specifications were issued by the Navy in 1944, the Albatross did not enter active service until 1951.
So why did I bother with this repaint? One of my favorite movies is Otto Preminger's 1964 production "In Harm's Way", a great WWII Navy story.
In the movie the Albatross makes a brief appearance as a transport for the central character played by John Wayne. Most people wouldn't notice, but by that time all of the contemporary seaplanes were long retired, so the Albatross was pressed into service. The movie is black and white so I can't verify the paint, but to preserve appearances I chose to use the intermediate blue the Navy used in that period.
So for what it's worth, here's an Albatross done up in the Navy's wartime paint scheme.
