Special thanks go to Jarink, who is a repainter in IL-2/PF. Jarink was kind enough to send me his layered photoshop files of the Noseart that I used for these repaints. I also used his repaints as a guide for my repaints.
This texture represents "Scorchy 2" from the 303rd BG. The B-17G started seeing action with the 303rd in October, 1943 and continued until the end of the war. Natural Metal finish was the standard from about March, 1944, but many planes were left in OD since stripping the paint was determined to be not worth the effort. The high-visibility red triangle group marking was adopted in August, 1944.
"Scorchy II" This was one of the first NMF (Natural Metal Finish) planes assigned to the 303rd BG. It was lost to a mid-air collision over Rottweil on 21 January, 1945. Only one crewman succeeded in bailing out.

This is repaint of USAF Air Rescue Service 5th Rescue Squadron SB-17G for Wings of Power B-17G. USAF operated several B-17s for Air Rescue Squadrons during WW2 and Korean War. 5th Rescue Squadron operated SB-17Gs during early part of Korean War.
