In November 1966 the Dutch charter operator Transavia Holland started its activities with 2 Douglas DC-6 and 1 Douglas DC-6B aircraft. Despite stiff competition from KLM and Martinair Holland, Transavia was able to conquer a considerable part of the charter and inclusive tours market and expanded its fleet with a several more DC-6B's. In 1968 Transavia became involved in the relief airlift from Sao Tome to Biafra using its fleet of DC-6's. The next year the DC-6's were sold to Flughjalp who continued flying the Biafra missions till January 1970. Featured here are DC-6 PH-TRA (1966 livery) and DC-6 PH-TRB (1968 livery). Today Transavia is a major Dutch low cost and charter airline (owned by Air France-KLM) operating Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. Kristensen's FS2004 Douglas DC-6 (dc6_v20.zip). Original textures by Jens B. Kristensen. Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.

In October 1968 the Dutch charter operator Transavia Holland became involved in the relief airlift from Sao Tome to Biafra. Initially only the DC-6 PH-TRA and the DC-6B's PH-TRD and PH-TRL were despatched, followed in November 1968 by DC-6 PH-TRB. Eventually the entire DC-6 fleet served on this operation while for its regular charter operations Transavia started using the Sud-Aviation SE-210 Caravelle jets. In 1969 all DC-6's were sold to Flughjalp and received Icelandic registrations (DC-6 PH-TRA became TF-AAD, DC-6 PH-TRB became TF-AAE). With the exception of TF-AAD and TF-AAE, both featured here, which were both written from use resp. in November 1969 and June 1969 after having sustained damage at the airstrip near Uli, the Sixes kept soldiering on till the Biafran Airlift came to an end in January 1970. FS2004 DFG Convair CV-240 VBF CA-18 in 1959 colors of Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH (German Flight Service Corporation), delivered to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines on August 31, 1948,
named "Albert Cuyp" and registered PH-TEC. Reregistered PH-CEC on March 2, 1954. Bought
by Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH on November 27, 1957 and registered D-BEPE. Sold to Houston Aviation Products on November 3, 1961 and registered N13648. Bought by Ozark Airlines on July 2, 1962 and registered N2400Z. Bought by Mohawk Airlines on December 23, 1964. Reregistered to Mohawk Airlines Delaware with registration N8327C on January 27, 1965. After this the Convair was operated by several companies and private owners. Last known action was taken at 2000-04-13. Ultimate fate is unknown. Textures and associated model file included only.
