Repaint for Hawker Siddeley HS.748 - ZS-SBV, South African Airways. Textures Only. Original model by Rick Piper, Fraser McKay, Garry Russell, Brian Horsey, Brian Withers.
This twin-turboprop 748 replaced the Douglas DC-3 Dakotas on SAA regional services to neighboring states and South West Africa in 1970. The three were withdrawn from service in 1983.
ZS-SBV (cn 1692) was bought in November 1983 by Austin Airways. Air Creebec bought the plane in December 1988. At Riviere-au-Saumon, QC (Canada) during take-off for a domectic flight the no. 2 engine exploded on takeoff. A fire erupted and the takeoff was aborted. Of the 35 people on board there were no fatalities. The plane was written off.

Visit www.dc3airways.com for information about this exciting event commencing October 2, 2010. Thereafter, you can keep this lovely lady as a souvenir of how well you flew! Requires a base install of the FS2004/2002 R4D-6/DC-3A package available from Mid-Atlantic Air Museum Simulations at www.maam.org. Can be used in FSX with the upgrade files available from the same site. This livery is also available for the default FS2004 DC-3 as wr10_fs9.zip, and for the default FSX aircraft as wr10_fsx.zip. The Airline Code of UB is used with domestic flights still today, with the international flights, the airline code was changed effective at the 22 April, 2002 from UB in 8M . Burma today is called Myanmar and the airline is called Myanmar Airways International (MAI). Myanmar considers today one of the poorest countries of the world unfortunately.
