In the early 1990s before the emergence of alliances British Airways bought a stake in US Air with the goal of improved connections and greater share of the internal US market. As a result of this three of US Air 767-200s were painted in British Airways livery, used the BA call sign "Speedbird" and had US Air crews trained to BA standards for three routes into LGW from BWI, CLT and PHL. Eventually the alliance collapsed and BA formed and alliance with American Airlines who are now ironically trying to merge with US Air's successor US Airways.

Re-upload. FS2004 KNILM Douglas DC-3. Before and after World War II KLM was a major European operator of the Douglas DC-3. The first DC-3 entered service with KLM in October 1936. This made KLM the first operator of the DC-3 in Europe. 22 others would join before Nazi-Germany invaded the Netherlands on 10 May 1940 and occupied the country for five dark years. The KLM DC-3's served destinations in Europe as well as the famous 'Indies-route' from Amsterdam to Batavia (Dutch East Indies; nowadays Jakarta, Indonesia). Those DC-3's present at Amsterdam-Schiphol, if not destroyed by bombs, were impounded by the Germans. Other DC-3's that happened to be
elsewhere out of reach of the enemy found their way either to the Dutch East Indies where they served on the KNILM routes to various destinations in Far East Asia and Australia until the Japanese invasion in February 1942, or to England where they were leased by BOAC for the London (later Bristol) to Lisbon service. PH-ALP 'Pelikaan' ('Pelican') ended up in the Dutch East Indies, was bought by KNILM (Royal Netherlands Indies Airways) as PK-AFV. On her last flight on 3 March 1942 from Batavia to Broome, Australia, Japanese Zero fighters shot at PK-AFV and set her alight. The aircraft succesfully crash-landed on the beach at Carnon Bay, Australia. The repaint of PK-AFV is based on the templates Mark Beaumont created for the MAAM-SIM Douglas DC-3 (passenger version), which were based on Jan Visser's original textures. These are textures only. With Union Of Burma Airways becomes awake memories at a country, that was among the richest acreage in Asia once economically. The Airline Code of UB is used with domestic flights still today, with the international flights, the airline code was changed effective at the 22 April, 2002 from UB in 8M . Burma today is called Myanmar and the airline is called Myanmar Airways International (MAI). Myanmar considers today one of the poorest countries of the world unfortunately.

Visit www.dc3airways.com for information about this exciting event commencing October 2, 2010. Thereafter, you can keep this lovely lady as a souvenir of how well you flew! Requires a base install of the FS2004/2002 R4D-6/DC-3A package available from Mid-Atlantic Air Museum Simulations at www.maam.org. These repaints were sitting on my computer for a while, so I figured it was time to share them. This is a package of the four US Airways football special liveries. We have N837AW painted in the awesome Arizona Cardinals scheme, N709UW with the Philadelphia Eagles, N717UW for the Carolina Panthers, and last but not least N733UW with the Pittsburgh Steelers. America West had a marketing agreement with the Arizona Cardinals, and previously had a special Cardinals 757, but the scheme was transferred to an A319. Upon the merger with US Airways, more agreements were made with three other teams, followed by three more special aircraft. All four liveries have been painted with upmost accuracy on the great Project Airbus model. Enjoy!

Repaint for Hawker Siddeley HS.748 - ZS-SBV, South African Airways. Textures Only. Original model by Rick Piper, Fraser McKay, Garry Russell, Brian Horsey, Brian Withers.
This twin-turboprop 748 replaced the Douglas DC-3 Dakotas on SAA regional services to neighboring states and South West Africa in 1970. The three were withdrawn from service in 1983.
ZS-SBV (cn 1692) was bought in November 1983 by Austin Airways. Air Creebec bought the plane in December 1988. At Riviere-au-Saumon, QC (Canada) during take-off for a domectic flight the no. 2 engine exploded on takeoff. A fire erupted and the takeoff was aborted. Of the 35 people on board there were no fatalities. The plane was written off.
