USAF Douglas DB-26 B and C Drone Launch Invaders

File Description:
Three texture sets for two USAF drone launching B-26 Invaders, of the 4750th Drone Squadron, Vincent AFB (later Yuma MCAS after 1958), Yuma, AZ and the 4756th Drone Squadron, Tyndall AFB, FL in the late Fifties and Early Sixties. This set of repaint textures for the SOH A-26 Invader, depicting a set of DB-26 drone launching aircraft of the USAF in the late Fifties and early Sixties. The aircraft were unarmed and had pylons installed under both wings for carrying and launching Ryan Firebee drones. Sadly, the model doesn't have the drones. I also want to thank Mr. Jim Brink, who was the commanding officer of the 4750th Drone Squadron when they started with the DB-26's, for his pictures and help in making these repaints accurate. Also, for putting me in touch with Mr. John Nitka, who has researched Firebee launch operations for fifteen years and has collected a treasure trove of information (his father worked on the DB-26's at Vincent AFB and Tyndall AFB). It was he who shared the squadron emblems with me and provided several pictures without which I could not have completed these repaints, nor the next few I intend to do. My sincere and grateful thanks to both of them. It is to Jim Brink, and John Nitka's Dad, that I dedicate these repaints as well as to all who maintained or flew them.

Grumman Albatross version 2.1 US Marines

Grumman Albatross HU-16 2.1; Greg Pepper Michael Verlin; US Marines UF-1 137900; MCAS Iwakuni 1961-62.

My thanks to John Detrick who repainted this aircraft for the Virtavia FSX version of the Albatross. His repaint served as source material for my repaint. I have been unable to find any photographs of this aircraft. According to the information from John's repaint, this was the only Albatross in Marine colors. It was stationed at Iwakuni during the period noted above.

The paint scheme is Engine Gray, International Orange and Black and White. The lettering is in the Long Beach USN font, in common with US Navy versions of this aircraft.

USAAF B-24H "Little Warrior" 493rd BG 8th AAF

File Description:
This B-24H-20-FO 42-94812 was produced at the Ford Company's Willow Run plant. It was assigned to the 861st Bomb Sqdn, 493rd Bomb Group, 8th AAF, flying out of Debach, England. On 29 Jun 1944 the 2Lt John H Hansen flew this aircraft on a mission to Quakenbruk, Germany. When flak punctured the fuel transfer system in the bomb bay, "Little Warrior" instantly turned into a fiery blow torch before blowing up over Fallersleben, Germany. All the crew perished. I offer this repaint as a memorial to all those airmen who met with sudden death in the skies of WWII. Textures only, requires the original PAYWARE Alpha-Sim aircraft.

P-51D Mustang "Twilight Tear"

File Description:
This is a repaint only for the Wings of Power P-51D/H pack. "Twilight Tear" is a very unique Mustang with a very large history behind it. It is one of only a select few Mustang survivors that actually saw active combat duty during WWII. Even more amazing is that it now flies in the same markings, and flies from the same base that it did during WWII; Duxford. "Twilight Tear's" original pilot, Lt. Hubert Davis, claimed three victories in this aircraft while flying with the 78th FG.

File Description:
This is a repaint only for the Wings of Power P-47 Thunderbolt. The markings are that of P-47D "Hun Hunter XVI", which is owned by Neal Melton of Luttrell, Tennessee. This aircraft is restored in the markings of an aircraft flown by Capt. Gil Wymond of the 65th FS, 57th FG, 12th Airforce.

F-6D "Lil' Margaret"

File Description:
This texture is for the Wings of Power P-51D/H pack. "Lil' Margaret" is a conversion of the venerable P-51D, known as an F-6D for its reconnaissance role. While flying this aircraft with the 10th Photo Recon Group, Clyde B. East tallied 13 enemy aircraft shot down, something that was not supposed to be part of the rather quiet "get in and get out" sort of mission. As a tribute to the actions of Clyde B. East, one of the more finely restored Mustangs in the world today, flies in these markings. Texture is complete with camera ports and sighting marks along the left wing.

Boeing B-17G "Liberty Belle"

This is a repaint only for the Wings of Power Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, in the markings of N390TH, the "Liberty Belle." After a 14-year restoration in Kissimmee, Florida, this aircraft took to the skies again on December 8, 2004, making it the 13th airworthy B-17.
