| Island in the Sky Douglas C-47 Skytrain USAF 'Corsair' |

File Description:
Based on original textures by Jan Visser, this texture set is a representation of the fictional USAF C-47 flown by John Wayne as Dooley in the 1953 classic film, "Island in the Sky". It is intended to complement an article written by Harold "Farmboyzim" Zimmer for the December 2007 issue of "Computer Pilot" magazine. Harold's review of "Island in the Sky" can be found at http://farmboyzimsflightsims.com/IslandintheSky_film_review.html. The texture set requires the base R4D-6/DC-3A package available from Mid Atlantic Air Museum Simulations (MAAM-SIM) at www.maam.org, together with two subsequent free C-47 enhancements to that product. This is a repaint of the FS2004/FS2002 MAAM-SIM Passenger DC-3 in a specially commissioned livery for the 2010 DC-3 World Rally, organised by the team at DC-3 Airways VA. Visit www.dc3airways.com for information about this exciting event commencing October 2, 2010. Thereafter, you can keep this lovely lady as a souvenir of how well you flew! Requires a base install of the FS2004/2002 R4D-6/DC-3A package available from Mid-Atlantic Air Museum Simulations at www.maam.org. Can be used in FSX with the upgrade files available from the same site. This livery is also available for the default FS2004 DC-3 as wr10_fs9.zip, and for the default FSX aircraft as wr10_fsx.zip. Grumman Tarpon/Avenger Mk I FN910 White 4F of No 846 Sqn, Macrihanish, Scotland, December 1943. Amongst the second batch of Tarpon Is delivered to the British in the autumn of 1943, this aircraft was issued to No 846 Sqn after the unit had flown off of HMS Ravager and taken up residence in Scotland. No 846 Sqdn was the first unit to operate the Tarpon I in home waters.

Grumman Tarpon/Avenger Mk II JZ466 White 380 pf No 848 Sqn, HMS Formidable (67), August 1945. The British Pacific Fleet operated as a task group of the US Third Fleet during the latter part of the Pacific war, flying missions over Japan proper.
