The provincial capital is 1,437 kilometers south of Bangkok by road, and 1,116 kilometers by train. The province covers some 4,475 square kilometers, two thirds of which are forested mountains. Narathiwat is the province having beautiful natural sceneries of both forests and the seaside resorts.

It was established on 30 June 1960 to train replacement aircrew and maintenance personnel. It was disestablished on 1 November 1993. Model design by Hiroshi Igami. Flight dynamics design by Nick Wilkinson and David Biggar. Master textures by Kyle Schurb.

It is used by the US Air Force's Air Education and Training Command to train student pilots
to fly airlift or tanker aircraft. The swept wing T-1A is the military version of the Beech
400A multi-place business jet. Repaint includes both white and the new grey color scheme.
