Sabena (Circa 1960) Douglas DC-6

File Description:
The first European operator of the Douglas DC-6 was the Belgian airline Sabena. The first of five DC-6s, which was registered OO-AWA (see Jens B. Kristensen's FS2004 Douglas DC-6 (dc6_v20.zip), was delivered on 15 July 1947. It was introduced on the Brussels-New York service in August 1947. Of course the DC-6s also operated on the Brussels-Leopoldville (now Kinshasa) route, the "lifeline" to the former Belgian colony Congo. From 1953 on they were joined by nine slightly larger DC-6Bs and one DC-6A. Except for OO-AWB which crashed in 1955, the "short" DC-6 had a remarkably long career with Sabena, incl. being leased to Air Congo. The last example was sold in 1965. Original textures by Jens B. Transavia Douglas DC-6 (revised)

File Description:
In November 1966 the Dutch charter operator Transavia Holland started its activities with 2 Douglas DC-6 and 1 Douglas DC-6B aircraft. Despite stiff competition from KLM and Martinair Holland, Transavia was able to conquer a considerable part of the charter and inclusive tours market and expanded its fleet with a several more DC-6B's. In 1968 Transavia became involved in the relief airlift from Sao Tome to Biafra using its fleet of DC-6's. The next year the DC-6's were sold to Flughjalp who continued flying the Biafra missions till January 1970. Featured here are DC-6 PH-TRA (1966 livery) and DC-6 PH-TRB (1968 livery). Today Transavia is a major Dutch low cost and charter airline (owned by Air France-KLM) operating Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. German Cargo McDonnell Douglas DC-8-73AF

File Description:
Textures for AI-Aardvark's excellent DC-8 Model in German Cargo (GCS) colors. German Cargo Services (CCS) was a subsidiary company of Lufthansa. Founded in 1977 it provided split and full charter freight services. In 1984 the fleet of four Boeing 707-Freighters was replaced by five DC-8-73. Textures only! You need AI-Aardvark's Douglas DC-8-71/DC-8-73 basepack (aiaDC8_7.zip)available i.e. here at avsim.com.
