File Description:
This is a repaint of one of the 2 aircraft used in the film "The High and The Mighty" (John Wayne and Robert Stack - 1954). This aircraft actually flew in this paint around Los Angeles and the bay area of southern California in November of 1953 for in-flight footage, so it's entirely fictional...but the airline was.
The original repaint was by Dave McQueen for Jens B. Kristensen's DC-4/C-54 version 2.0. I have updated it to make it compatable with the Jens' new version 2.1 (DC4_v21.zip) to use the DC-4-1009 airfile. Load your plane with 3050 gallons of fuel and balance out passengers and cargo to total 73,000 lbs. and you can duplicate flight #420 in the film! If you wish to shut down engine #1 and dump 200 gallons of fuel from the left wing and see if you can still get to San Fransico from Honolulu, that's up to you..but it is a challenge. This is Aerocaribe Fokker 100 Fleet Pack with the registrations: XA-JXW, XA-SGE, XA-SHI & XA-TKR All of them with White Colors included. Aerocaribe was an airline founded in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Aerocaribe was founded in 1972 as "Aerolineas Bonanza", it started operations on July 12th, 1975, under the name of "Aerocaribe". It was a regional subsidiary of Mexicana Airlines that operated services under the flag of "Mexicana Inter" and shared codes with its parent company. it operated almost 120 flights per day. in 2005 Mexicana decided to rename Aerocaribe as a low cost airline, "MexicanaClick". Aerocaribe was purchased by "Compañia Mexicana de Aviacion". On August 23th, 1990. In 1996 Mexicana became part of the Cintra Group. Its subsidiary Aerocozumel was integrated. Mexicana decided to transfer its fleet of Fokker 100 aircraft to Aerocaribe to change the airline's brand. Its new name is MexicanaClick, And it is an attempt to create a low cost mexican airline, starting operations in July 2005. It had aircraft together with its subsidiary Aerocozumel: FAIRCHILD FOKKER F27 FRIENDSHIP, MCDONNELL DOUGLAS DC-9-14/MCDONNELL DOUGLAS DC- 9-15, BRITTEN-NORMAN ISLANDER, CESSNA 208B CARAVAN, BAE JETSTREAM 31, MCDONNELL DOUGLAS DC-9-31, FOKKER 100. The model is AI Aardvark (AIA) Fokker 100, coming soon more Douglas DC-9-30 registrations and textures, Basepack. On 3 July 2010, the Tour de France 2010 started in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The 20 VFR + 1 IFR (#TFR1019a, for the default DC-3) flight plans, for the default Cessna 172, follow the stages to a large extent. The maps of the individual stages are included.
