Havana 1962 Scenery

File Description:
This scenery includes Havana as it was in 1962 (a mysterious city of much fascination for me) including El Morro Fortress on its rocky outcropping at the entrance to Havana harbor, the largest such fortress in the Caribbean, and its adjacent lighthouse. In downtown Havana you will see the capital building and several old cathedrals. Near the Malicon sea walk by the beach, you will find 3 famous hotels and former casinos, the Flamingo, the Riviera, and the Havana Hilton. The Havana Hilton opened just days before Castro seized power and nationalized it. When he first came to power he occupied the top floor for some time. Havana Airport opened originally as Rancho Los Boyeos Airport, located just southwest from the city in the village of the same name, which was then mostly farms, small ranches, and tiny communities. The original terminal was a very pretty Spanish colonial building, which the dictator Fulgencio Batista had remodeled in a 1950's cubist-tudor style. It was at the time of this remodeling (1957) that the airport's name was changed to Jose Marti International Airport, named after the famous Cuban revolutionary and poet of the 19th century. Jose Marti Airport was in the 1950s and 1960s the primary port of entry airport for Cuba. Up until the January 1st 1959 revolution many US airlines served Havana, but due to mounting tensions, the crisis of the Bay of Pigs attack, and later on the October 1962 missile crisis, traffic and tourism was ended as the US led blockade of Cuba took hold. By the time of this scenery, April 1962, the once former bustling Jose Marti airport had become quite sedate.

Kangiqsujuaq CYKF in northern Quebec, Canada

File Description:
Kangiqsujuaq is on the north coast of Quebec, 85 miles west of Quaqtaq and 125 miles east of Salluit, while across the Hudson Strait and 100 miles away on Baffin Island is Kimmirut. The town grew around two trading posts, the first opened by Revillon Freres in 1910, and the second by the Hudson Bay Company in 1914. A school was opened in 1960, and a clinic in 1961. The town was known as Wakeham Bay until 1961, and now has a population of around 700. The airport is to the south of the town and up on the hill at 511 feet ASL (this has been remeasured since 2004 and is now known to be 501). The gravel runway is just over 3,500 feet long and aligned 15/33; there is no PAPI, but there is fuel available, both 100LL and JetA. There are flights by Air Inuit.

SLLJ - Laja, Bolivia (fixed)

File Description:
These .bgl files fix the position of SLLJ airport. Default scenary places the airport on a big hole. This fix places the airport at the right position.

LFBI - Poitiers-Biard Airport - Biard, France

File Description:
Poitiers-Biard airport (LFBI) only for FS2004. Located west of the city of poitier this is as close as the Futuroscope airport. http://www.poitiers.aeroport.fr/

This scenery is a freeware thank you to all those who provide assistance especially my F-BMPL for the permission to use the models of his FSX scenery for the creation of this scenery. It is not entirely realistic but allows you to use the Poitier platform in FS2004.

Weiser Muni S87 Idaho

File Description:
Weiser Municipal is located on the Snake River bordering Idaho and Oregon. Follow the river about 60 miles north and you'll be in the spectacular Hell's Canyon area. This scenery was designed for use with Ultimate Terrain USA but is also compatible with the default FS9 scenery.

Idaho County S80 Airport

File Description:
Another small airport in beautiful Idaho. Near the mountains but not in them, this airport offers easy access and 24 hour operation. The airport NOTAM mentions skydiving activity, so I'm guessing the large circular dirt area is a landing target for the skydivers. All aprons were redrawn and buildings replaced according to better match Google Earth images. The landclass was modified to reduce the nearby city to a more realistic size and replace the farmland surrounding the airport. This scenery was designed for Ultimate Terrain and may or may not work with the default scenery.

Lewiston-Nez Perce KLWS

File Description:
Located in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho, Lewiston-Nez Perce County Airport is served by Horizon Air and Skywest Airlines. This scenery is based on aerial photos from Google Earth and other sources. Pretty much everything except the runways has been moved or rebuilt to be more accurate. All default buildings have been replaced. Some general aviation AI traffic is included.
