File Description: CAA purchased their first Vickers Viscount 748D on 25th April 1956. A further four were delivered in the same year. The aircraft came equipped with external slipper tanks for long-range operations. In 1957 the Viscounts took over the international service to Europe from Vickers Vikings. All the Viscounts except VP-YNE passed on to Air Rhodesia when Central African Airways was disolved in 1965. This V.748D (C/N 99) was built for CAA as VP-YNB and first flew on Saturday, 5 May 1956 at Hurn, Bournemouth, Dorset, England powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines.
