File Description: The Nord 1500 Griffon II was a French experimental high-speed research aircraft from the late 1950's. The aim of the project was to investigate a combined powerplant that used a conventional turbojet for take-off and an experimental ramjet for high altitude flight. The type reached a maximum speed of just under Mach 2.2, and was limited by not by engine performance, but by kenetic heating of the airframe. The Griffon II established a world record for a closed loop of 100 km at an average speed of 1,643 km/hr on February 25, 1959. This original model was developed for X-Plane version 6.25.
