File Description: This B-24D-25-CO #41-24294 was assigned to the 512th Bomb Squadron, 376th Bomb Group, 9th AAF. This aircraft was assigned to 1Lt Bob Storz and he named the ship after their family brewery in Omaha, Nebraska. On the 1 Aug 1943 Ploesti mission, 1Lt John Palm's crew took it to that fiery target. Realizing the 376th lead ship and commander had made a wrong turn, Palm broke away and made directly for the refineries by himself. Severely battered by the ground defenses, Palm struggled toward the target. They never made it for Hauptmann Wilhelm Steinmann from 1/JG4 found the cripple and shot them down. Palm and seven other men emerged from the wreck to become POWs. They had the dubious distinction of being the first Liberator to fall to the defenses that day. Textures only, requires the original PAYWARE Alpha-Sim aircraft.
