File Description:
This is a RedSpade repaint of Aeroplane Heaven's B-17G. B-17G-80-BO 43-38223 C/A "Days Pay" Flown by Lt. Arlys Wineinger. 862nd BS of the 493rd BG. On July 23, 1944, hundreds gather at the Hanford Airport (now closed) to witness the christening of a special airplane. Every employee at the Hanford Engineer Works donated one day’s pay to purchase the airplane, a B-17 bomber, as their contribution to the war effort. The plane is christened “Day’s Pay,” and is presented to the U.S. Army Air Forces.
