File Description: On 24 September 1929, the first blind takeoff, flight and landing occurred at Mitchel Field, Garden City, NY in a Consolidated NY-2 biplane piloted by Lt. James Doolittle. Equipped with specially designed radio and aeronautical instrumentation, it represented the cooperative efforts of many organizations, mainly the Guggenheim Fund’s Full Flight Laboratory, U.S. Army Air Corps, U.S. Dept. of Commerce, Sperry Gyroscope Company, Kollsman Instrument Company and Radio Frequency Laboratories.
This mission is my meager attempt at recreating this flight, albeit in the FSX stock Cessna. To simulate the hood Jimmy used, I've set weather visibility at 1/16 mile to simulate flying blind. Enjoy the mission.

File Description: The DC-3 Dakotas and the C-47 Skytrains are/were equipped with the Sperry gyropilot, an early version autopilot. For those pilots who want to use a more modern AP/Radio device, I have replaced the Sperry and build in modern AP/Radio gauges, fully integrated into the VC panel.

File Description: This is a Modification of the excellent D18S by Milton Shupe, Scott Thomas and Andre Folkers comprising a new 2D panel and flight dynamics for a 1943 US Navy JRB-4. It features the 1943 vintage "Navy Pilot's Manual" based layout and gauges. Included are the appropriate original D18S model and textures for a complete aircraft installation, with permission by Shupe, Thomas, and Folkers. The Pilots Manual was used as the source for flight planning instructions, panel design, Sperry autopilot, ADF and other gauges, fuel tank locations and selection levers, and electrical system. Also included are pop-up sextant and drift meters. A special thank you to Milton Shupe who generously provided me with a great amount of technical help with this project.

File Description: This package includes the files and installation procedures for a modification of the terrific Tinmouse II Boeing 737-200 panel available on AVSIM to add a Sperry 177 FCU autopilot to the panel. While the Tinmouse II panel is simply one of the best freeware 2D panels ever created, a number of pilots have expressed a desire for a replacement of the Sperry 77 (CWS) autopilot with the Sperry 177 (dials and digits) autopilot. The previous Sperry 177 modification I released had many of the elements of a Sperry 177, but did not entirely look or function like a Sperry 177 FCU. This version (2.1) corrects many of these issues, and should bring an entirely new level of realism to your Tinmouse II panel over the v1.0 modification. Here's the list of corrections and improvements implemented in the v2.1 package over v1 and v2: Actual Sperry 177 layout and functionality, Course knob now fully functional and works in synergy with gyro course knob, Panel refresh rate now accurate and smooth (no "click delay"), VOR LOC button drives the FS NAV1 Lock button, LNAV turns on the GPS Drives NAV1 signal, and an optional Sperry 177 full MCP layout or condensed w/ FD layout. This package requires the latest Tinmouse II aircraft and panel, which at the time of this release was v1.26.

File Description: This program will upgrade the fs9 Amelia Earhart Lockheed L10E by adding a Virtual Cockpit to both the Sperry Autopilot version of that aircraft and to the Modern Autopilot version. Before you can use this upgrade you must first have downloaded and installed the Earhart L10E Electra, filename l10eae01.zip. This VC is the work of Norman Hancock, who would like to thank Dave Bitzer for his help and encouragement. Thanks also to Arik Hohmeyer of FS-Design Berlin for his excellent L10E Electra, and to J. L. Stubbs for his faithful FS98 Earhart Panel; both were the basis of the Earhart L10E development. The VC Upgrade is a one-step install.
