File Description: British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines operated the first Australian trans-Pacific service from 1946 until 1954, when the airline ceased operations and QANTAS took over this route to North America.
Between September 1946 and April 1948, BCPA leased four DC-4 aircraft and the crews to man them from Australian National Airways (ANA) and in April 1948 they (BCPA) commenced operations using their own equipment and staff.
This Flight recreates a return journey in September 1948, from Vancouver to Sydney, via the staging points at San Francisco, Honolulu, Canton Island and Nadi (Fiji).
A Word document is included which contains information relating to the history of BCPA and the flight itself.
