Nord 1500 Griffon II
File Description: The Nord 1500 Griffon II was a French experimental high-speed research aircraft from the late 1950's. The aim of the project was to investigate a combined powerplant that used a conventional turbojet for take-off and an experimental ramjet for high altitude flight. The type reached a maximum speed of just under Mach 2.2, and was limited by not by engine performance, but by kenetic heating of the airframe. The Griffon II established a world record for a closed loop of 100 km at an average speed of 1,643 km/hr on February 25, 1959. This original model was developed for X-Plane version 6.25.

P-40E Warhawk
File Description: P40E Warhawk for x-plane 6.4-6.6 - The P-40 Warhawk built by Curtiss was developed from the P-36 simply by replacing the radial engine with the liquid cooled Allison 1720 V12 with 1125 HP. It was America's foremost fighter in service when WWII began. P-40s engaged Japanese aircraft during the attack on Pearl Harbor and the invasion of the Philipines in December 1941. They also were flown in China early in 1942 by the famed Flying Tigers and in North Africa in 1943 by the first AAF all-black unit, the 99th Fighter Squadron.
The P-40 served in the Aleutian Islands, Italy, the Middle East, the Far East, the Southwest Pacific and some were sent to Russia. Though often outclassed by its adversaries in speed, maneuverability and rate of climb, the P-40 earned a reputation in battle for extreme ruggedness. At the end of the P-40's brilliant career, more than 14,000 had been produced for service in the air forces of 28 nations, of which 2,320 were of the "E" series.

P38 v1.1 For X-Plane 6.4-6.6
File Description: P38v1.1 for X-Plane 6.4-6.6. Improved paint job, panel and other minor improvements. The P38 developed a a result for a fast long range fighter requested by the US; most manufacturers ignored the call for proposals because of the ridiculous requirements. Lockheed, using the brilliant and unconventional ideas of their designer, Kelly Johnson (who later went on to help design the SR-71 Blackbird among others), came up with a plane that was totally unique for the time. It had two engines, used liquid cooled inlines instead of radials, tricycle landing gear, provided staggering operating ranges and payloads yet was able to maneuver capably with single engined fighters. The test models of the P38 made more "firsts" than any other plane both on paper and in the air.

P51 Black Widow for Vs. 6.4/6.51
File Description: P-61B BLACK WIDOW for x-plane 6.4/6.51
The need for a true night fighter aircraft was well demonstrated during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Aircraft used to counter German night attacks were not very effective. At the direction of the Air Corp's Carl A. Spaatz, John Northrop submitted a ground up night fighter design, which, designated as the XP-61, first flew on May 26, 1942. The Black Widow was the first aircraft designed from the ground up as a night fighter. Its innovative slotted flaps and spoiler ailerons allowed operation from short airstrips and improved handling; the radar carried in its nose made it the dominant force in the night skies of Europe and the South Pacific. From July 6, 1944, when it claimed its first victory, to war's end, the P-61 distinguished itself as one of America's most unique fighting machines. After the war, P-61s were used in reconnaissance, weather research, and flight testing. The first American flight ejections were made from a P-61.
Only four P-61 aircraft are known to exist today.
