Aero Tropics AI package Supplement

File Description:
AERO TROPICS AI PACKAGE - SUPPLEMENT This package is a supplement to "aerotropics.zip" (REQUIRED) posted on 7th August 2004 A new AFCAD for Darnley Island (YDNI) is included. This is only required if using the Australia STRM mesh by Andy Weir. If you are using default scenery, DO NOT use this AFCAD. My apologies for omitting the airport list from the previous package. They are now listed here. The IATA code "NLF" mysteriously crept into the previous flightplan. That has been replaced by the correct ICAO code of "YDNI".

CFS2 Coast Pacific

File Description:
CFS2 has no flattening of the coastal areas. This creates mesh problems, as the coastal water will not always be at elevation 0. These BGLs will correct that problem for the Pacific Theatre. Areas include Hawaii, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the Western Pacific islands, and SE Asia.

Connellan Airports

File Description:
Connellan Airways was formed in 1939 (known as Survey & Inland Transport until 1943) and the 1967 schedules show 114 airports and airstrips served by the airline across Northern Territory of Australia and reaching out into Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland too (including two named Springvale many miles apart!). It operated until 1980 when it was sold to East West Airlines. The airport at Ayers Rock, once their headquarters, has been named after the airline.

Of those 114 airports and airstrips, very few appear in Flight Simulator or in any add-on I have come across. This package seeks to redress the situation with 81 new A&FD files, representing new airports plus a couple of default ones enhanced with parking spots. Most of the airstrips remain in use today serving remote cattle stations and townships but satellite data shows a few to now be overgrown and out of use. A few cannot be traced owing to poor quality satellite imagery and have had to be omitted here.

All files are based on satellite data including altitude, and therefore work best with a high quality mesh add-on - they will still work with the default landscape of Flight Simulator but some airstrips may look a little high or low compared with the surroundling area.

Eastern Australia, New Zealand Terrain Mesh

File Description:
GTOPO30 Tile: E140S10 to E180S60. This data adds a small but pleasant increase in visual detail in most areas. Constructed from GTOPO30 data (3 arcsec, ~1000m) and converted at LOD7 to 305.8m. Production procedures used result in coverage of 98% (!) of the source Tile.

This scenery is meant as an enhancement to the already detailed photo-realistic Sydney scenery provided by Microsoft in this version of their Simulator. THIS SCENERY FEATURES North Sydney Buildings Chatswood buildings, TV Antena's, Fort Denision Harbour traffic, including ferry boats and other water traffic, Stadium Australia (Now Telstra Stadium) Sydney Football Stadium (Now Aussie Stadium.) Gladesville Bridge, Iron Cove Bridge. In addition two heliports have been added, one at the Opera House one at Telstra Stadium. For use with or without SATPAC mesh scenery. Textures required are Airport 2.6, VOD, Nova and Nova Gold. & ASD.

YALG Adels Grove, Queensland, Australia

File Description: Googlyafcad A&F Data file for Adels Grove, based on Google Earth satellite data. Unfortunately, Microsoft have omitted this location from Flight Simulator 2004 and this file will allow you and your "AI" traffic to land, taxi, park and take off in a realistic manner. Adels Grove is a small airstrip serving Lawn Hill National Park, a port of call on the Heron Airlines Northern Affordable Air Tour. The very last commercially operated de Havilland Heron flight called here in 2003 but the service still operates and is now worked by Metroliner aircraft. These files have been tested with Flight Simulator 2004 default scenery, Visual Australia (VOZ) enhanced scenery and add-on mesh by Andy Weir and is compatible with all.
